B&N Water Resources Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop and calibrate hydraulic and hydrologic models for a variety of projects, ensuring accurate representation of system behavior
  • Provide technical analysis and solutions for stormwater management and design, ranging from steady-state analysis adhering to local regulations to large-scale hydraulic modeling using SWMM-based software
  • Analyze sanitary and combined sewer modeling outputs to pinpoint areas of high inflow and infiltration (I&I) and develop alternatives to mitigate these issues
  • Support the development of wet weather control strategies and evaluate alternatives for stormwater and sewer system enhancements
  • Assist in project management tasks, including overseeing budgets, schedules, and deliverables for H&H projects
  • Participate in and lead client, public, project, and internal meetings, fostering strong relationships and ensuring clear communication
  • Mentor junior staff, providing guidance in modeling techniques, project workflows, and professional development
  • Collaborate on the preparation of technical reports, design documentation, and engineering calculations
  • Contribute to proposal development and business development efforts by identifying client needs and aligning technical capabilities with project goals
  • Offer hydrologic and hydraulic technical support during the planning, design, and construction phases of projects, covering a wide spectrum of water resource challenges

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration required in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana; or ability to register through reciprocity
  • 5+ years related water/wastewater experience
  • Experience with SWMM, PCSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, or other similar hydraulic modeling software
  • Experience with stormwater and sanitary sewer system design
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with GIS products (ArcGIS Pro or QGIS) to enhance hydraulic model development and data analysis
  • Adaptability to handle both straightforward and complex hydraulic modeling tasks, depending on project requirements
  • General Python scripting knowledge for automating and streamlining manual workflows and calibration processes
