Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, the Credit Manager will be responsible for assessing credit worthiness, setting credit limits, and minimizing bad debts while maintaining positive relationships with clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Recommend and implement credit policies, procedures and controls that are consistent with sound credit management principles and company goals
  • Lead, manage and provide direction to credit analyst(s) through effective goal setting, performance monitoring and reviews, and on-the-job training and development plans
  • Analyze financial data and credit reports to evaluate the creditworthiness of potential and existing customers
  • Establish credit limits and payment terms for customers based on their creditworthiness and payment history
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure payments are made on time and in accordance with established terms
  • Prepare reports and provide analysis of credit and collections activity to senior management
  • Consider and evaluate credit insurance options to further mitigate risk where appropriate and cost effective
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, as well as the provisions of credit insurance policies where applicable
  • Communicate with customers to address any credit-related issues and resolve disputes
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with Sales, Customer Service, and Finance to ensure all credit related matters are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate and maintain constructive business relationships with customers and industry contacts through regular communications and personal visits as considered necessary
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in all communications and interactions
  • Safeguard confidential information through adherence to the highest legal and ethical standards
  • Participate in ongoing professional development consistent with assigned responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and skills:
  • A university degree or college diploma in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in credit and collections with at least 5 years in a management capacity
  • Professional credit designation (CCP) is preferred
  • Relevant industry experience and/or private company experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong business process acumen with ability to clearly identify issues and work with other functions to address changing business requirements and/or drive process improvements
  • Proficiency with technology and Microsoft Office in particular (Excel, Word)
  • Familiarity with credit insurance and associated compliance requirements and reporting
