The role youll contribute:

The Oncology Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day oncology pharmacy operations in various Oncology and Infusion Centers as assigned. Reporting to the system Clinical Pharmacy Director directly and indirectly to the clinic leadership and Pharmacy Director, this individual serves as a working supervisor providing direction and supervision to oncology pharmacy technicians. In addition, the incumbent participates in direct patient care activities and coordinates services with other healthcare team members as appropriate. The Specialist will work closely with the Director of Pharmacy Services, Providers, and clinical leaders on initiatives related to oncology pharmacy operations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs dosing, pharmacokinetics, and protocol compliance reviews on all medication treatment regimes.

On a daily basis, attends patient care activities in the clinic and infusion areas with direct patient care contact for visual assessment of physical and psychological signs of drug-related effects.

Daily monitoring for all patients on medications where therapeutics levels are reported or adverse effects anticipated.

Provide Collaborative Drug Therapy Management under protocol from the physician team, including pain consultations, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulation, renal adjustments, etc.

Identify and implement drug therapy where positive pharmacoeconomic impact can be achieved. The ultimate goal is to develop and assure cost effective clinical pathways for oncology patients.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

1 as a clinical pharmacist or with equivalent education (completion of residency or Pharm.D. degree)

Chemotherapy/Hazardous product compounding and USP 797 compliance Required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

Completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency with experience in Oncology and/or Critical Care (PGY-1) and /or equivalent experience. A specialized clinical residency in Oncology (PGY-2) and /or experience is preferred. Board Certification preferred (BCOPS

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

PHARMD - Licensed Pharmacist Required
