Job Title: Registered Nurse

Shift: Day Shift, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (5x8 Hr)

Guaranteed Hours: 40.00

Experience: Minimum three years of applicable experience

License: Registered Nurse License in good standing

Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association)

Must-Have:

- Ability to write, read, comprehend, and speak fluent English
- Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsers
- Multicultural sensitivity
- Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions

Job Description:

- As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process.

- Develop an individualized plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and healthcare team.

- Use appropriate interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes.

- Systematically evaluate and document patients' progress toward expected outcomes/goals on an ongoing basis throughout the shift.

- Modify the plan of care based on evaluation and evidence-based practice through nursing processes, protocols, and procedures.

- Assess patients' status through interviews and observations as needed based on changes in patient condition.

- Complete required documentation appropriately, including patient charts and event reports.

- Demonstrate professional accountability for own practice as evidenced by seeking resources and continued self-development.

- Demonstrate technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot when problems arise.

- Acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practices.

- Promote the professional development of self and team members.

- Share clinical knowledge through informal teaching and in response to the learning needs of others.

- Demonstrate a practical problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues (as applicable).

- Demonstrate skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment (as applicable).

- Possess knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing.

- Perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider orders and hospital lab procedures/policies.

- Coordinate the interdisciplinary care of the patient through collaboration with team members and utilize additional resources when necessary.

- Analyze clinical situations in a systematic way and act to obtain resources or correct problems to meet or exceed expected outcomes or patient needs.

- Recognize need for assistance and utilize resources, including consultation with physicians and fellow nurses in a timely manner.

- Demonstrate ownership and persistence to ensure problems are resolved in the best way possible.

- Assume assignment of non-complex and some complex patient management with some turnover in assignment.

- Consistently prioritize work based on changes in patient condition, assignment changes, and unanticipated interruptions.

- Identify and utilize team resources to solve identified problems or needs.

- Collaborate with the healthcare team in organizing tasks and activities for patient care from admission to discharge according to the plan of care and to meet identified expected outcomes.

- Work with other team members in delegating tasks and activities appropriately.

- Provide goal-focused shift report.

- Advocate with physicians on patients' behalf when necessary.

- Utilize communication and teamwork strategies aimed at promoting high team performance and achieving optimal patient outcomes and unit productivity.

- Choose an appropriate and meaningful communication style when interacting with others and give and accept constructive feedback to and from peers.

- Adhere to assigned weekly, weekend, and holiday call shifts in accordance with hospital policies and protocols.
