Engineer/Architect 2:

Juneau: $4,111.20 / Biweekly

Fairbanks: $4,032.80 / Biweekly

Anchorage: $3,915.20 / Biweekly

Engineer/Architect 3:

Juneau: $4,712.80 / Biweekly

Fairbanks: $4,622.40 / Biweekly

Anchorage: $4,488.00 / Biweekly

  • Lead Research and Innovation Initiatives: Oversee research efforts and pilot programs aimed at improving the safety, sustainability, and functionality of Alaska's transportation systems.
  • Shape the Future: Collaborate with department leadership to develop and implement strategic innovations that address the unique challenges of Alaska's transportation infrastructure.
  • Foster Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and industry experts to identify and execute innovative solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Engineer/Architect 2
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and one year of professional experience as an Engineer/Architect 1 or Engineering Associate with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent.

Special Note:Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

Engineer/Architect 3
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and three years of professional engineering or architectural experience (Engineer/Architect series), or the equivalent.

Special Note:Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). FLEXIBLY STAFFED

This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the Engineer/Architect 2 or Engineer/Architect 3 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at a lower level, promotion to the higher level will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
