Job Title: Radiology Interventional Technologist
Job Specialty: Interventional Radiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Five 8-hour shifts. Four 10-hour shift weeks may be available depending on demand.
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 3 years of previous experience in a Trauma Level 1 facility, Cath Lab experience
License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with the advanced registry in one of the following: Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI), Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI), or Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV).
Certifications: BLS certification required
Must-Have: Previous experience as an IR Tech
Job Description:
- Specializes in performing invasive procedures to aid in evaluating pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.
- Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them accordingly.
- Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.
- Prepares prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration to patients.
- Reviews clinical data on requisition and analyzes the anatomical structure of the patient; sets up equipment and follows protocols.
- Assists radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures.
- Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for the procedure.
- Ensures adequate supplies such as needles, catheters, etc., are on hand and properly stored; replenishes supplies as appropriate.
- Actively assesses the patient's condition before, during, and following all procedures.
- Manually controls equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information for the area of the body being studied.
- May assist with the training of new personnel and/or students assigned to the division.
- Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection.
- Resolves any/all image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS.
- Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System.
- Demonstrates consistent Team Member Standards of Excellence including open communication, timely responses, and fostering innovation.
- Performs Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate.
- Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
This position requires a Healthcare Provider certification, and candidates must maintain the required hours of continued medical education.
