IT Manager - Portfolio Management

Locations: Dallas, TX or Akron, OH

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager is responsible for the overall direction, planning, and staffing of their team. The Manager works closely with other teams within Signet to accomplish the business' needs and strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership/Management
  • Manage and lead a high performing team and deliver performance feedback, coaching and mentoring.
  • Encourage teamwork at all levels and cross-functionally within our team and outside teams
  • Maintain and develop staff by orienting, and training employees; develop personal growth opportunities.
  • Grow and maintain relationships with business leaders and customers at all levels in the organization.
  • Grow and maintain relationship with peers and IT teams
  • Manage upward, develop decks, disseminate information at the correct level, escalation of issues
  • Maintain quality of service by establishing and enforcing team standards.
  • Actively develop and maintain healthy relationships with all related vendors.

Strategy & Planning
  • Manage the portfolio of projects in the IT Merchandise portfolio across all demand channels to align funding, resources, skills, and tasks to plan and deliver all projects in the portfolio.
  • Work with business partners, IT Solution Delivery, IT Shared Services, and technical teams to define project requirements and scope - this may be done by a PM on the team.
  • Create and maintain a high-level work plan which identifies and sequences the major workstreams and milestone activities needed to successfully complete the project - this may be done by a PM on the team.
  • Serve as the Primary liaison to key Project stakeholders beginning with initial request.
  • Aid in defining the initial work estimate: resources (skills and effort), equipment, licensing, etc. required to complete the project, assessing budgetary considerations and allocations.
  • Provide governance and oversight for all required project initiation steps, including, but not limited to, IT Peer Budget Reviews, submission of Capital Requests, SOWs
  • Evaluate workflow processes and provide ongoing optimization recommendations.
  • Lead/facilitate cross-team and internal meetings


Execution & Portfolio Management
  • Manage the overall project budget for the portfolio.
  • Continue to refine established best practices, owning the communication and training of changes internally within the team and communicating externally, when appropriate.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase in an effort to refine approach, applying learnings consistently.
  • Develop and present analytics and reports to Director/Senior Management.
  • Prepare meeting materials, outlines, presentations, reports, spreadsheets, and other project information.
  • Coordinate & schedule meetings, conference calls and events as needed.
  • Ensure that project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality.
  • Conduct project closure activities to include final reporting, lessons learned, knowledge transfer, and project documentation, inclusive of validating a detailed hand-off to support team(s).
  • Document risks issues; maintain, track, and monitor risk issues - this may be done by the PM on the team
  • Conduct critical path and dependency analysis as necessary -this should be done with the PM and Solution Delivery Partners.
  • Identify any problems associated with the project and develop and implement the appropriate solution.
  • Be accountable for delivery against approved project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Manage large projects of varying complexity (e.g. harmonization efforts, etc.)


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requires 10+ years of experience.
  • Listening, verbal and written communications skills with the ability to translate information into understandable terms to a variety of audiences.
  • Responsive and alert to new learning opportunities, growth, and development of technical, interpersonal and business skills; able to recognize and address areas needing improvement.
