Role Overview: Director, Digital Learning

The Director, Digital Learning role will drive the integration of technology into 3DE's instructional design, enhancing student and teacher engagement with case challenges and related content. As the internal expert on our learning management system (LMS: D2L Brightspace), this position will leverage digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning experiences. They will focus on integrating tools such as LMS, interactive software, and digital media into educational practices to create engaging, effective, and accessible learning environments. They will collaborate to design, develop, and deploy interactive learning modules, ensuring best-in-class instructional practices. Collaborating closely with content developers, the digital learning director will deliver dynamic digital experiences, incorporating research-based strategies to improve student engagement and achievement. Additionally, this role will support staff training, advocating for digital learning, managing LTI integrations with school districts, troubleshooting LMS issues, and fostering adoption across the 3DE network.

Core Responsibilities
  • Systems Administration and Project Management
    • Oversee system administration and configuration of current LMS (D2L Brightspace), managing all role definition, course structuring, Learning Object Repository (LOR), and overall relationship with vendor.
    • Work with district learning technology teams to establish and maintain LTI connections between district LMS and My3DE.
    • Monitor and oversee system usability, ensuring teacher and student experience is seamless and delivering on stated goals.
    • Explore and understand new and existing system functionality to match to business needs.
    • Monitor all internal projects involving My3DE including content build, rollout user training, etc., outlining interdependencies between projects and mitigating issues and risks as they effect end users.
    • Monitor and manage Tier 1 user issues with a focus on helping the ground team troubleshoot issues, addressing as possible and escalating to vendor support as necessary.
  • Technology Integration & Implementation
    • Leverage cutting-edge technologies and differentiated learning strategies to enhance digital content delivery.
    • Develop engaging, technology-enabled classroom experiences, including virtual classroom connections and teacher-led sessions.
    • Design and implement student learning and assessment platforms, integrating self-directed learning, digital collaboration, and alignment with academic standards.
  • Curriculum & Content Design
    • Collaborate with instructional design on multimedia-rich digital learning experiences aligned with 3DE content and in-person, teacher-facilitated learning experiences.
    • Build and manage a digital repository of supplemental resources, assets, and instructional supports for teachers to ensure seamless classroom integration.
  • Field Training & Support
    • Onboard users and collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement staff training sessions.
    • Understand field users' (educators, staff, and external partners) usage and support needs that will enhance digital teaching strategies.
    • Develop training materials and experiences for targeted audiences, developing appropriate tools (how-to guides, video walkthroughs) to support usage.
    • Provide foundational knowledge for facilitating 3DE content using the Learning Management System, reinforcing key concepts in support of educator usage in hybrid learning environments.
    • Develop and maintain implementation documentation.

Desired Experience
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's or master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing digital learning solutions, preferably in a high school education setting or nonprofit sector.
    • Strong experience with D2L Brightspace in course design, deployment, and administration.
    • Familiarity with instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and learning science principles.
    • Knowledge of research-based strategies for student engagement and achievement.
    • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and educators to develop digital learning experiences.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in SCORM, xAPI, or other e-learning standards.
    • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues within the LMS and provide support to teachers and students.
    • Basic knowledge and editing of HTML, CSS, and media production tools.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate curriculum into engaging digital content.
    • Ability to train and support educators and 3DE staff in adopting technology effectively.
    • Problem-solving mindset and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
    • Positive and encouraging, committed to working collaboratively with internal partners to support a cohesive team and innovative product.
    • Experience working both with a team and independently

Job Details
  • Hiring for an Immediate Start
  • Location: Hybrid; (75% remote, 15% travel, 10% in office)
  • Employment Type: Full Time
  • Salary Range: $90,000 - $95,000; commensurate with experience
  • Reports To: VP, Education Delivery and Technology Solutions at Junior Achievement USA
