We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to oversee safety compliance and protocols for a digestive plant construction project in Chowchilla, CA. This role requires expertise in plant construction, permit-to-work programs, isolation procedures, and commissioning. The Safety Manager will ensure that all safety regulations, policies, and industry standards are met to maintain a safe work environment.

- Implement and manage safety programs aligned with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and industry best practices.
- Oversee and enforce the Permit to Work (PTW) program, ensuring proper authorization and risk assessments are conducted.
- Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and isolation procedures for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead safety training and toolbox talks for construction crews, supervisors, and contractors.
- Oversee commissioning safety protocols, ensuring that start-up activities adhere to safety regulations.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and safety violations, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Work closely with construction managers, engineers, and subcontractors to enforce safety policies.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and compliance records.
- Ensure emergency response plans are in place and communicated effectively.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of safety management experience in industrial plant construction or renewable energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of Permit to Work (PTW) programs, isolation procedures, and commissioning safety.
- OSHA 30 or OSHA 500 certification required.
- Experience in digestive plants, biogas, or similar industrial facilities is a plus.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E, Cal/OSHA, and other relevant safety standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Chowchilla, CA, for the duration of the project (7 months).
Preferred:
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) certification.
- Experience with contractor management and construction site safety enforcement.
Benefits:
- $50-60/hr plus OT pay
- .77 cents per mile to and from work
- $200/day per diem, 7 days
- 55-60 hours per week
