Job Summary
Parks Marketing Coordinator develops and executes the Parks & Community Services marketing program work plan in support of the department's revenue goals. Oversees and implements the strategic direction of the department-wide marketing and advertising, including print and digital media. Provides targeted marketing campaigns, conducts customer satisfaction and market research, evaluates program and service mix and identifies market gaps, and develops new methodologies for promoting Parks & Community Services programs and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include any combination of the following tasks:
Marketing & Digital Media
- Develop, update and implement the marketing and communications plan for the department in collaboration with department Public Information Officer. Direct the marketing work plan, monitor the workflow, and align goals to outcomes.
- Align marketing strategy with department-wide strategic planning and business planning efforts. Translate department-wide strategies and goals into strategic marketing goals and initiatives.
- Oversee the development of marketing strategies; define goals and objectives and provide guidance to business units on all phases of marketing, including market research and analysis.
- Monitor performance of marketing program; research and analyze the best strategies for product and program evaluation, market segmentation, positioning, and promotions; adjust strategies as needed in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Plan, conduct, and analyze product and program evaluations, and conduct research associated with department planning projects.
- Create marketing and advertising publications, including brochures, newsletters, emails, web information, etc. Coordinate media buys on behalf of department programs, projects, and facilities.
- Collaborate with citywide communications team to enhance reach through outreach channels.
- In partnership with other subject matter experts, research, evaluate and deploy new digital platforms and social media platforms that can effectively communicate the department's programs and services. Work closely with the department PIO to develop and manage the department's Social Media Managers Team.
- Serve on the department's Title VI Core Team, leading language access work for assigned Parks & Community Services divisions and workgroups.
Leadership, Coaching, & Supervision
- Co-manage department digital communications efforts, including supervision of Department websites, social media channels, electronic communication and onsite digital signage; monitor external online presence; and supervise the development and dissemination of publications and other collateral.
- Hire and coach team members to achieve performance goals; evaluate performance, engage team members in decision-making and goal-setting; and facilitate their individual professional growth.
- Monitor and educate department staff on the appropriate/effective use of the city's brand and style guides within all department advertising campaigns.
Citywide Collaboration & Communication
- Coordinate with citywide communications staff to align marketing and communication goals and to ensure messages are consistent with the city's image.
- Serve as department representative on assigned community, regional and local advisory boards and committees; participate in division, department and city-wide activities.
- Assist with special projects and support events as needed.
- Collaborate and coordinate with citywide communications, web governance, digital communications, and outreach teams.
- Build collaborative relationships and maintain communication with staff throughout the department to develop an understanding of the operational needs and expectations of each division, the department's role in the community at large, and the goals of individual program areas.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
- Works under the general supervision of an Assistant Director or division manager
- Supervises staff, interns and volunteers
Qualifications

- Knowledge of organization, function, and activities of a marketing workgroup, including, but not limited to: customer research, product and program evaluation, market segmentation, strategic planning, development of marketing campaigns, public involvement, effective use of digital media, graphic design methods and layouts, and social media.
- Knowledge of leadership, planning and organizational skills with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and requests and meet deadlines in a timely and professional manner.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and strong editing skills.
- Ability to manage project workflows, timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure deliverables, and timelines are met.
- Knowledge of the principles of recreation programming philosophy, including the ability to identify and prioritize removal of barriers to access.
- Skill in using data, analysis, and research to understand trends and develop marketing plans and communication tools.
- Ability to increase brand awareness and develop targeted marketing campaigns.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, including influencing or leading change where no formal supervisory or hierarchical relationship exists.
- Ability to accomplish goals using sound analytical and decision-making skills and to creatively problem solve complex issues.
- Knowledge of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, including language access.
- Ability to supervise, train, direct, and evaluate the work of assigned staff.

- Washington State Driver's License is required.
