Job Description
Under general supervision of Midwifery Services and direction of the OB/GYN Division, with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, provides antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, neonatal, interconceptional and gynecological care, in accordance with written midwifery protocols which have been approved by the institution's Medical Board.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Serves as a resource to facilitate staff development of less experienced midwives and professional staff responsible for the delivery of patient care.
2. Assists in the supervision and administration of midwifery functions and activities.
3. Assists with the supervision and teaching of students of midwifery and other health disciplines.
4. Provides clinical and didactic instructions to students and may conduct lectures or seminars as part of the educational curriculum.
5. Evaluates students performance and provides oral and written reports/guidance for improvement.
6. Provides input to facility or Department of OB/GYN for development of midwifery education curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Licensure as a Midwife by the New York State Department of Education; and,
2. Two years of clinical experience in midwifery practice.
