Position Highlights:
  • Position: RN - Coordinator Surgical Services, UCU
  • Location: Glenbrook Hospital, Glenview, IL
  • Full Time: 40hrs/week
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8a-4:30p
  • Hourly Pay Range: $40.45 - $62.70. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.


A Brief Overview:
The RN Coordinator - Surgical Specialties is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating surgical specialty services within the Surgical Services department. This position involves collaborating with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of surgical care. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining high standards of surgical practice, facilitating surgical scheduling, and supporting the surgical team.

What you will do:
  • Coordinate surgical specialty services, including scheduling, resource allocation, and patient preparation, to ensure the smooth flow of surgical procedures.
  • Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and operating room staff to schedule surgical cases, ensuring efficient use of operating room time and resources.
  • Conduct pre-operative patient assessments, gather relevant health information, and ensure all necessary pre-operative tests and clearances are completed.
  • Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, risks, benefits, and post-operative care instructions.
  • Assist the surgical team in preparing the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
  • Provide support during surgical procedures, assisting the surgical team as needed, and ensuring the safety and comfort of the patient.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of surgical care provided, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Implement and monitor surgical safety protocols, including patient positioning, infection control measures, and surgical site verification.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures, patient assessments, and surgical outcomes.
  • Ensure the availability and proper functioning of surgical equipment and supplies, collaborating with materials management and sterile processing as needed.
  • Provide education and training to surgical staff on best practices, new technologies, and surgical techniques.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives related to surgical specialties, collect and analyze data, and implement strategies to enhance patient care outcomes.


What you will need:
  • Bachelors Degree Nursing Preferred
  • 3 Years of clinical nursing experience, with surgical specialty experience preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois. Required And
  • CPR or BLS - American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification (BLS) Required
