Underground Maintenance - Superintendent Division

Are you a leader passionate about driving results, fostering safety, and mentoring others? In this newly created role of Underground Maintenance - Superintendent, you will be responsible for multiple underground maintenance crews as well as the FIXIT hotline, scheduling of CCC and FAC programs, as well as handling warranty related requests.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Leadership:

• Promote and maintain a safety-first culture on all projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety programs, PPE standards, and safe work practices.
• Actively participate in safety meetings, site inspections, and incident investigations.

2. Team Development & Training:

• Guide and mentor Supervisors to follow company policies to successfully execute project plans.
• Train and support Supervisors to ensure there is a consistent transfer of knowledge and practice.
• Support training programs and the development of equipment operators.
• Foster recruitment and training initiatives to build a skilled workforce.

3. Project Execution:

• Collaborate with Project Managers and Supervisors to align project goals and execution plans.
• Assist with project plan: development, commencement as well as adaptive strategies to changing conditions.
• Communicate deviations and collaborate on solutions, including potential changes.
• Attend project meetings; provide updates on progress, providing constructive feedback on upcoming work, and adapt work plan in field as required to meet project needs or goals.

4. Performance Monitoring:

• Project measures of success are being are understood and being met

• On time dispatch of crew and resources
• On time completion of tasks
• Client Satisfaction is achieved
• Optimize resource allocation, including equipment and staffing, to maximize efficiency.

5. Resource Management & Scheduling:

• Strategically plan and schedule equipment and crews across multiple projects.
• Maintain daily scheduling of maintenance crews.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to manage project timelines and resources.
• Balance client needs with sustainable staffing and equipment usage.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

• A minimum 5 years of proven supervisory experience in the underground industry.
• Maintain a positive attitude towards completing project goals and training employees.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to mentor and develop teams.
• Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols and practices.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt plans to dynamic field conditions.
• Willingness to learn new skills and processes.
• Foster a positive approach to understanding and addressing client needs.
• Maintain strong relationships with employees, clients, municipality inspectors, and consultant.
• Effective communication skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of Calgary and adjacent municipalities Sewer and Water Specification.
• Familiarity with City of Calgary processes related to permit requests, requests for valve controls, and locates.
