You will play a crucial role in expanding the usage of data within The Atlantic's everyday operations. We are seeking an Engineer with 3-5 years of experience and a focus on data to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, experience working with stakeholders and managing projects, and a passion for the media industry. You will play a crucial role in building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring the seamless flow of data across our systems, and supporting data-driven decision-making within the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, experience working with stakeholders and managing projects, and a passion for the media industry. You will play a crucial role in building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring the seamless flow of data across our systems, and supporting data-driven decision-making within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to support various data processing and analysis needs.
- Implement and optimize ETL and ELT processes to ensure efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading from multiple sources.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to develop data models, reverse ETL processes to power marketing tech, and support analytics and reporting requirements.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility by implementing robust data quality and validation checks.
- Work with various standard Data Engineering tools, such as Airflow, dbt, AWS lambda, AWS batch job, and BigQuery.
- Maintain and improve workflows in dbt, AWS, and GCP.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data engineering and media technology, proposing innovative solutions to enhance our data capabilities.
- Document data workflows, processes, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and maintain a high standard of data management.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, identifying and resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering or a similar role.
- High proficiency in SQL and experience with data modeling.
- Python programming knowledge.
- Experience with Airflow and dbt.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and their data services.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues independently.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- A passion for the media industry and a keen interest in leveraging data to drive media innovation.
- Experience with stakeholder management and project management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Docker, Github Actions, and Terraform
- Experience with Google Tag Manager
- Familiarity with Python
- Understanding of DevOps concepts
