Position Summary:

In the position of Technical Development Director, you will be responsible for finished beverage commercialization, including new technology development and manufacturing process optimization to ensure producibility, product performance, and manufacturing efficiency.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide technical support from idea to market by identifying and recommending emerging products and ingredient trends. Develop Technical Ideation Brief and participate in tastings with flavor houses and senior leadership team during ideation process for Monster Energy Company (MEC) innovation agenda.
  • Accountable for liquid commercialization, including scale up process, batching and/or sales sample trials, and commercial productions the first 90 days for all new launches. Support direct reports with North America and LATAM regional technical responsibilities. Review and approve accuracy and optimum of manufacturing instruction for adaptation launches globally.
  • Lead the technical development of high complexity innovation platforms, e.g., retort / dairy, aseptic, etc., in partnership with vendors and flavor houses. Conduct research and development (R&D) trials and analysis to develop risk mitigation and processing parameters. Transfer knowledge properly to Technical Project Managers to ensure successful execution.
  • Lead global product stability study programs. Develop Design of Experiment (DoE) and testing methods for product performance evaluation, specifically sensory and liquid stability.
  • Develop MEC beverage manufacturing "playbook", which includes ingredient, batching and trouble-shooting knowledge, best practices, processes, and protocols.
  • Lead global technical transfer program to ensure technical knowledge is shared and utilized among MEC technical community. Develop and train Technical Project Managers globally on beverage manufacturing processes.
  • Act as global Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Technical Service Lead for MEC product manufacturing processes. Maintain internal database and educate internal stakeholders in manufacturing process.
  • Participate in developing business processes of Technical Formulation Management (TFM) function specifically and NPD team overall.
  • Manage and develop Technical Development Senior Managers and Managers. Responsible for direct reports' performance review and future career development.


Position Requirements:

  • Prefer a Bachelor's Degree in the field of -- Food, Chemical, Processing Engineering, or other related technical degree.
  • Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Additional Experience Desired: More than 10 years of experience in fast-paced environment of Operations,
  • Manufacturing, Engineering or Technical Service for a beverage manufacturer.
  • Additional Experience Desired: More than 10 years of experience in commercialization, processing, formulation, kit / concentrate set-up for beverage systems.
  • Computer Skills Desired: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Product Lifecycle Management, and SAP.
  • Preferred Certifications: N/A
  • Additional Knowledge or Skills to be Successful in this role: Minimum 5 years of direct supervision / team management.
  • 5 years of Project Management experience. Knowledge of general statistics for manufacturing operations is preferred.


Base Salary Range: 146,450K - 195,000K
