Sr. Accountant - Revenue

SUMMARY:

MEPUSA, a subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., is an E&P company with substantial investments in gas assets located in the United States. The Accounting & Finance department is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant, who will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of revenue and production accounting for our onshore operated and non-operated properties. The Senior Revenue Accountant will accurately record the monthly revenue including accruals for both operated and non-operated assets and ensure regulatory compliance with state Tax and Royalty Agencies. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to recommend accounting process improvements, foster a positive team environment, and be able to communicate monthly accounting results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and record the month-end accruals and full cycle revenue reporting close processes.
• Review contracts to ensure that revenue is recorded accurately.
• Ensure compliance with applicable policies.
• Assist with the monthly Production Accounting (production and sales volume at well level) for operated and non-operated assets.
• Ensure proper and timely reporting to working interest and royalty interest partners, and governmental agencies.
• Prepare monthly Operations reporting / support, including budget vs. actuals.
• Assist with the integration of revenue and regulatory accounting data and processes for planned acquisitions.
• Maintain and enhance internal control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
• Provide external audit support.
• Special projects as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability to data mine, develop system or Excel-based reporting, and innovatively find solutions for ad-hoc requests.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and reporting concepts.
• Understanding of state and federal regulations and operational reporting requirements.
• Good data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Identify and implement process enhancements that improve effectiveness or create efficiencies.
• Prepare and communicate effective presentations to various audiences.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (including Excel and PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years of revenue and/or regulatory accounting experience at an operator E&P company
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or equivalent is required
• Experience working in an ERP system (Quorum preferred)

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Fluent verbal and written skills in English

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Physical demands include:

• Prolonged periods of sitting and may need to routinely move around to communicate with different groups
• Occasionally work late to meet with Tokyo office
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must have a valid DL.
