Job Summary

Continental Resources is seeking a Senior Exploration Geologist with a proven track record of asset development, prospect generation, and play fairway analysis in unconventional and conventional reservoirs. This position will be responsible for the generation of new exploration prospects as well as the expansion and development of existing plays.

Collaborates with a multi-discipline team of geoscientists, engineers, and land and commercial teams to generate development strategy and plans for existing assets. Generates leads and develops them into exploration prospects through the interpretation of well logs, scout tickets, and other geological data. Fully competent in standard techniques, procedures, and criteria used in carrying out a sequence of geological tasks. Performs all conventional aspects of work. Has fully qualified utilization of the specific tools required to solve routine problems independently but may still need guidance to solve more complex problems. Self-starter who requires minimal direct supervision while demonstrating proficiency to impact exploration and asset development programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Integrate and interpret multiple geologic, petrophysical, and geophysical parameters into a concise geologic model
  • Utilize surface and subsurface geotechnical data to generate geologic models through log correlation, cross-section construction, stratigraphic analysis, basic petrophysical analysis, and basic to advanced mapping techniques to characterize petroleum systems and hi-graded play fairways
  • Participate in strategic peer review sessions to present and refine interpretations and technical analysis to deliver technically vetted, high-quality exploration prospects
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of geoscientists, engineers, and land and commercial teams to conduct assessments of strategic opportunities and emerging plays to develop a portfolio of investment opportunities as well as generate development plans for existing assets
  • Effectively utilize advanced geotechnical software tools in the interpretation process
  • Convey technical findings through oral presentations and written reports to both upper management as well as peer review presentations
  • Work in a collaborative multi-disciplined environment incorporating a wide variety of data from various sources to develop a team-driven interpretation.
  • Effectively communicate strategy, recommendations, and execution plans for capital programs regarding project funding, data capture, and testing plans
  • Be a key contributor in the planning, execution, and evaluation of exploration wells, subsurface data gathering programs, and integration of industry best practices and latest technology

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Geoscience or Earth Sciences from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent experience with an active exploration and production company
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree from an accredited university or college in Geology and/or Geophysics, Physics, or Mathematics.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
