POSITION OVERVIEW
This role will be responsible for helping the VP Finance in managing the accounting & finance team in the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with GAAP and relevant regulations and standards. It will require someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a detail-oriented and organized individual with strong time management skills. Experience working in Sage X3 would be an asset. This role will report directly into the VP Finance and work closely with all departments as well as the Board of Directors and senior leadership.

KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the preparation of monthly financial package and presentation to the VP Finance
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department (finance, AP, AR)
- Lead, develop, and provide mentorship to the financial reporting team
- Manage and assist in the preparation of annual budgets, including collaborating across departments to investigate variances, ownership of data validation, reasoning, and completion for VP Finance to present to Board of Directors. Upon approval, import budgets into Sage X3
- Manage the year-end audit process and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Manage the company cashflow, general ledger, trial balance, and chart of accounts
- Ownership of AP aging maintenance and validity
- Ownership of AR aging maintenance and validity
- Manage and review various regulatory filings and remittances in Canada and the United States
- Monitor, assess, and maintain internal control framework around financial reporting and treasury process
- Oversee evaluation of 12MMA moving averages
- Oversight of outsource team and job functions
- Identify process improvement opportunities and propose execution plans
- Evaluate AP automation feasibility
- Support VP Finance with ad-hoc projects as needed
THE EXPERIENCE OF A STRONG CANDIDATE
- 5-7 years related work experience or combination of relevant education and experience
- 3-5 years of leading and developing teams
- Completion of post-secondary education in accounting or finance with a related diploma, degree, or certificate
- CA, CMA, CGA, or CPA
- Strong MS office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word databases or related platforms)
- Monday.com or other project management software experience
- Excellent written and verbal English skills
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, operate proactively and work well independently
- Analytical team player with strong detail orientation and the ability to evaluate opinions and generate solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional attitude
- Experience in wholesale or large chain retail environment is an asset
