Job Summary
Provides technical and managerial support to the CEO in the financial, planning, and strategic management of the hospital. Oversees accounting and finance, including accounting, budget, reimbursement/contract compliance, payroll, audit, managed care contracting, business office, registration, patient accounts, and treasury management. Additionally, provides executive oversight for health information management, compliance, risk management, materials management, payroll, and information technology functions.

Essential Job Functions
  • Ensure the soundness of the hospital's financial structure.
  • Evaluate financial operations on an ongoing basis to ensure alignment with operational goals.
  • Communicate operating results, strategic spending, and performance to the CEO, Management Committee, and other leadership as appropriate.
  • Manage the operating and capital budget, determining allocation criteria and priorities.
  • Develop, maintain, and evaluate financial planning tools to support strategic planning, ensuring necessary resources are identified and secured.
  • Monitor hospital charge structures, ensuring competitiveness and cost-effectiveness within the specialty healthcare market.
  • Ensure compliance with all budgetary and fiscal goals.
  • Oversee the annual audit process.
  • Analyze operational data to make recommendations on resource allocation.
  • Effectively coordinate all departments within the span of control, contributing to overall hospital goals.
  • Assess internal and external resource needs to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Support continuous quality improvement by developing and documenting key processes and enhancing staff training.
  • Promote integration activities across departments in alignment with long-term goals.
  • Oversee accounts payable, health information management, information technology, materials management, pain center, patient accounting, payroll, and plant operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and manage a compliance program to monitor regulatory adherence, including billing practices, Medicaid, and Medicare compliance.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures to guide and support service delivery.
  • Keep the CEO informed of relevant situations as necessary.
  • Provide coaching and maintain open communication with staff, sharing relevant information.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital in-service training requirements.
  • Maintain patient and hospital confidentiality at all times.
  • Keep the CEO and Management Committee updated on key developments.

Non-Essential Job Functions
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support and uphold the mission and core values of the hospital.
  • Stay informed of and comply with hospital policies.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or finance required; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive financial management and/or accounting experience in healthcare.
  • Previous healthcare or hospital strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices, and regulatory compliance in healthcare.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and accrediting body regulations related to finance/accounting and hospital operations.
  • Commitment to continuous education and professional development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of hospital staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Working Conditions
The employee works in a temperature-controlled environment with potential exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and infectious diseases. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques. The position requires walking and/or standing approximately 30% of the day, sitting 70%, occasional bending and stooping, and reaching overhead less than 10% of the day.
