We are seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work night triage for our Emergency Medicine Department (Hennepin County Medical Center) - a Level 1 Trauma for Adults and Pediatrics. Starting FTE is flexible (0.60 - 1.0 FTE) with full benefit eligibility at 0.70 FTE (0.60 carries full benefits minus disability). Clinical coverage will be nights 11 pm - 7 am in triage 7 days a week (scheduled days TBD). There will be ability to pick up moonlighting shifts as desired (and as department needs). This job must demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working at triage as a provider doing medical screening exams (MSE) on patients and seeing and treating patients with less critical complaints who can be discharged from triage. Provider will also do MSE on patients and start workups on patients waiting for the team centers in the ED.
- Perform physical examination and record history
- Write & route orders to appropriate laboratory and radiological studies
- Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as directed by the physician including but not limited to:
- Wound care dressing
- Venipuncture
- Starting intravenous lines
- Bladder catheterization
- Suturing lacerations
- Pelvic examinations and testing
- Incision and drainage of abscesses
- Immobilizing fractures and other musculoskeletal problems through the use of splinting and casting
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Current (or eligibility for) license to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant issued by the State of Minnesota
- Family NP (FNP) certification required for NP candidates
- 3 years of work in an emergency department as an advanced practice provider
- Previous experience working in Emergency Medicine of 5 years (at least 3 years as an Advanced Practice Provider)
- Knowledge of electronic medical documentation system/software
