Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Job Specialty: Radiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8-hour Day Shifts, 5 days a week
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 1-year experience required; 2 years imaging-related experience preferred
License: Active Radiologic Technologist License Required
Certifications: ARRT (R) Radiography Registration through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Basic Life Support Certification
Must-Have: Demonstrated clinical competency in radiology, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work under deadlines and schedules, ability to handle stressful situations professionally, compassionate patient care, detail-oriented
Job Description:
- Perform diagnostic radiologic procedures with x-ray equipment as requested by a physician.
- Introduce yourself to the patient and explain the exam prior to its start.
- Obtain proper patient history for safety and necessary clinical information.
- Position the patient in the x-ray equipment using the proper technique to reduce radiation exposure while using appropriate shielding, collimation, and immobilization devices for each age-specific group.
- Inform and explain to patients the reason for any delay exceeding 15 minutes from the scheduled appointment time.
- Maintain clean and stocked work areas, check emergency kits, oxygen, and suction; report low supplies to the technician in charge and replace supplies used during a procedure immediately after completing an exam.
- Learn and practice sterile techniques when required for a procedure, and assist the radiologist during all fluoroscopy and special procedures.
- Learn to process a patient through the hospital and radiology information system, and properly utilize the PACS system.
- Review bulletin boards and mailboxes daily for pertinent information from the hospital, new policies, new procedures, or other general information.
- Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
Education must have been obtained from a recognized college or university, and a high degree of independent action, judgment, and creative ability is required. Flexibility to handle special requests and projects is essential.
