Description:

Ascentec Engineering is hiring an Engineering / NPI Manager for our Dallas, Oregon location!

As an engineering manager, you will lead technical production processes and integrate new technical activities with a team of engineers. In addition, you will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of NPI programs involving precision CNC machining/turning, welding and integrated assembly contract manufacturing services for Aerospace and Semiconductor markets.

This position is on-site (not remote/not hybrid) and is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Requirements

Position Summary:

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced time sensitive role that includes daily customer interaction. This person will work cross-functionally in the organization:

Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of CAM programmers, set-up machinists, and manufacturing engineers.
Ensure alignment between engineering, production, and quality teams to meet operational goals.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

CAM Programming & Process Development:
Oversee the development and optimization of CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX, Esprit and NCsimul).
Standardize programming best practices to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
Work closely with machinists to fine-tune tool paths, cycle times, and cutting strategies.

Production Support & Process Optimization:
Drive lean manufacturing principles to enhance machine utilization, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, fixturing, feeds & speeds, and material selection.
Collaborate with production teams to reduce setup times and increase first-pass yield.
Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and other quality standards.

Continuous Improvement & Automation:
Implement automation, robotic loading, and smart manufacturing solutions to drive efficiency.
Lead cost reduction and cycle time improvement initiatives.
Research and implement new machining technologies, software, and tooling advancements.

Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with sales and engineering teams to evaluate manufacturability of new products.
Manage engineering documentation, including process set-up sheets, work instructions, and tool libraries.
Partner with purchasing and suppliers to source cost-effective materials and tooling.
Partner with the Global CAM team to establish and improve programming, tooling, fixture standards across all of Ascentec
Work with estimators, planners, and production leaders to generate quotes and work orders to complete each expedited order

Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of experience in CNC machining, CAM programming, and manufacturing engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of multi-axis CNC mills & lathes, including 5-axis machining.
Proficiency in CAM software (Mastercam, NX, or Esprit).
Hands-on experience with G-code, tooling selection, fixture design, and setup optimization.
Familiarity with GD&T, blueprint reading, and high-precision tolerances.
Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement programs.
Strong project management and communication skills.
Ability to react to changes with a positive attitude
Ability to read, understand, and help interpret internal and customer provided mechanical prints
Preference will be given to candidates with machine shop and/or contract manufacturing experience
Preference will be given to candidates with semiconductor industry design and/or manufacturing experience
Must be comfortable with a machine shop/manufacturing environment.
Strong Microsoft office skills, specifically Excel.
Experience with MRP or ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the semiconductor, aerospace, or high-tech industries.
Knowledge of robotic automation, Industry 4.0, and smart manufacturing.
Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or CAM programming.

Compensation / Benefits:
$100,000 to $120,000 per year DOE
