The American Urological Association (AUA), the premier urologic association providing support to the urologic community, is currently searching for an experienced Finance Director who will be a part of the team in our Linthicum, Maryland office.

Our office is near the BWI airport. We are required to be in the office on Tuesdays/Wednesdays with remote working on Mondays/Thursdays/Fridays.

In General

This position has primary oversight for internal controls, financial, and statistical information to safeguard assets and provide management decision support. Serves as primary staff liaison with auditors and tax consultants. Responsible for preparation of regulatory reports and monitoring cash flow and tax issues. Provides technical accounting U.S. GAAP guidance and support to all AUA entities. Oversees the proper timing and application of new accounting pronouncements as it applies to all entities.

Typically

The individual in this position will:
  • Proactively monitors Federal, State and local regulations as they pertain to 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) issues, unrelated business income tax, lobbying, employee benefit programs, member services and international activities.
  • Manages annual audit engagement and tax report preparation for timely issuance, error free, supported by adequate reference documentation and prepared with sufficient planning to provide management with adequate notification of issues.
  • Manages annual budget and reforecast process and provides detailed review of budget templates provided by departments to ensure accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Oversees the preparation of the monthly financial package, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow variance analysis and financial ratios. Issuance of the report is due by the 15th of the month.
  • Provides guidance and oversight for UCF's unique requirements for endowment funds, public charity registrations and other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Provides supervision and direction to the accounting operations staff to ensure development, documentation and implementation of accounting practices and internal control procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Oversees financial functions on-site at the annual meeting including staff equipment and procedures for processing receipts, allocating costs, maintaining internal controls, preparing on-site reports, and the subsequent wrap up through collection of receivables.

    Candidates must have effective leadership and project planning. It is essential that the individual in this role must be an effective decision maker and have the ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage multiple tasks. In addition:
    • BS degree in Accounting required
    • Ten years of post-degree progressive accounting experience including preparation of regulatory reports, preparation of financial statements and supervisory experience.
    • Public accounting experience preferred.
    • CPA certificate or MBA required.
    • Record of continuing professional education.
    • Strategic planning experience
    • Project Management experience
    • Available for two or three weeks of travel annually.

    Salary range for this position is $180,000 - $186,000 a year.
