Purpose:
The Sr. Director, Emergency Services will collaborate closely with medical leadership to align the clinical, operational and standardization of delivery of care of emergency services across the enterprise. They will participate in joint decision-making processes to enhance patient care and departmental efficiency and foster a collaborative environment through shared accountability between nursing and medical staff. The Sr. Director will provide overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the service line and will apply expert clinical knowledge and skills to achieve quality patient outcomes. Aligned with medical leadership, the sr. director will integrate operations and lines of business among the health services division. Key focus areas for development and improvement include capacity management and throughput, reduction of boarder hours and improving patient experience. The Sr. Director will identify opportunities and implement system-wide care pathways designed to achieve clinical and operational outcomes. Responsible for building and supporting effective collegial relationships with applicable internal and external constituents and stakeholders and ensuring optimal operating effectiveness and strategic positioning. Will participate with leaders from Senior and Executive Leadership, Medical Staff and other clinical areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities. This position will be responsible for ongoing evaluation and developmental improvement in the healthcare regulation, quality care delivery and documentation practices. In addition, the Senior Director will lead local and service line improvement initiatives.

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with medical staff to improve and monitor patient outcomes; sets clinical quality priorities, recommends and implements professional improvements and initiatives.
- Monitors dashboard indicators and quality in service line to meet organizational benchmark goals; develops action plans to address specific concerns and improve quality.
- Utilizes research and evidence-based practice to support improvement in clinical care.
- Analyzes systems and resources to maximize their effectiveness, review the financial performance and the service line and develop innovative models of care.
- Supports and encourages involvement of multidisciplinary teams in the development and implementation of evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborates with nursing leadership to implement and evaluate impact of new and/or modified clinical services and programs based on emerging trends, new regulatory requirements and/or advances in patient safety.
- Promotes interdisciplinary partnership and consultation of hospital staff and health care team through participation in committees and related activities to ensure appropriate care and services for patients and families.
- Sets clinical, quality, financial, and human resources priorities for improvement that align with organizational goals.
- Demonstrates sound fiscal responsibility in the development of work with entities and service line to achieve efficient use of resources including but not limited to managing flexible staffing patterns to meet patient care needs.
- Leverages new operational/technology innovations to create and implement new models of care across the service line.
- Coordinates with local nursing leadership through both direct and indirect reporting structures for all service line activities and initiatives ensuring local execution.
Qualifications:
- MSN or Master's in related field; if Master's in related field, BSN required/Doctorate preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical specialty experience.
- Leadership and project management experience required.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire - Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Act 34
