General Description of Position
  • Assists the Principal in the general administration of the school.
  • Supervises student conduct within the school and oversees all disciplinary matters and procedures for students as well as maintaining appropriate documentation and records of the same.

Job Description
  • Administers and enforces school rules as they pertain to student attendance as well as communicating with the County Truancy Officer, when necessary.
  • Being a visible and approachable presence within the building.
  • Is in charge of and responsible for the coordination of the Illinois state testing schedule with building faculty, the distribution of materials to faculty, and the security of the materials under the guidelines and policies of the Illinois StateBoard of Education.
  • In conjunction with the Secretaries, is responsible for the coordination of the student information system within the building and the entry and uploading of the necessary student data to the State of Illinois.
  • Is responsible for the distribution and security of all keys to employees in the building. In addition, they are responsible for the distribution and collection of keys to outside agencies who utilize the Plano Middle School building.
  • Arranges faculty schedule for before and after school supervision responsibilities throughout the school building.
  • Administers and enforces the after school and Saturday student detention programs.
  • Administers and enforces the in-school and out of school suspension programs.
  • Works alongside the Plano Police Department and the District Liaison Officer.
  • Assists, and if necessary, finds assistance to supervise the lunchroom.
  • Assists in the modifications to, enforcement of, and distribution of student handbooks.
  • Assists the Principal with the purchasing and distribution of all textbooks and other instructional materials.
  • Plans and supervises fire and tornado drills as well as emergency preparedness programs.
  • Along with the Principal, provides input and leadership in faculty meetings and in-service training dates for the faculty and staff.
  • Is responsible for the morning and afternoon announcements as well as providing the necessary information for the Secretary to send the weekly communication to staff and families.
  • Assists in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating the certified staff while making written recommendations concerning continued employment or non-retention of staff.
  • Will attend monthly Board of Education meetings to discuss building issues related to this position.
  • On a regular basis, attends team meetings along with the Guidance Counselor and reports back to the Principal.
  • Along with the Principal, coordinates building usage dates and times with the school community.
  • Along with the Principal, oversees the student incentive programs within the building.
  • Serves on the Building School Improvement Team, the Building Leadership Team, the Pupil Personnel Services Team, the District Crisis Team, the District Growth Team, and the District Athletic Committee, and other committees as assigned.
  • As Athletic Director, oversees and administers: the scheduling of athletic contests and event workers, enforcement of eligibility guidelines, the hiring of event officials, the ordering of equipment/uniforms/supplies of the entire athletic program under the guidelines established by the Principal.
  • Arranges and coordinates school-wide assemblies and assists in the supervision on extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.
  • As Athletic Director, provides leadership in the set up/take down of the building athletic events.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as the Principal may from time to time assign.
  • As an administrator, this position will require the individual to be in attendance at a variety of district meetings and functions outside the regular school day.
PEL required. Administrative Certificate or Type 75 required.

Salary: Based on background and experience, starting at $80,000.
