About the workplace

This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role may require you to work in-office at least once a week.

As the Manager, Learning, you will coach and lead a team of diverse learning professionals and external partners to develop, design, and deliver learning programs that align with and support Vancity's strategic objectives. Acting as a strategic thought partner, this role collaborates across the organization to create and execute a learning roadmap that develops employees, managers, and leaders, ultimately enhancing the service provided to Vancity members. A key focus of this role is to advance equity and diversity by embedding inclusive principles into all learning programs; fostering a culture of curiosity and continuous learning in alignment with our strategic organizational goals; and ensuring an environment where all employees can thrive and contribute fully through accessible learning options.

A typical day would involve:

  • Strategic Oversight
    • Oversee the strategic design, development, and implementation of learning programs and tactics aligned with the Vancity's strategic objectives.
    • Act as a strategic consultant to leadership at all levels, understanding organizational priorities and translating them into actionable learning solutions.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Learning & Development (L&D) professionals to deliver high-impact learning initiatives.
    • Manage relationships with external L&D vendors to meet organizational needs and maintain a high standard of delivery.
  • Program & Change Management
    • Define budget requirements for the learning function and monitor/report training costs to achieve content objectives while adhering to financial constraints.
    • Leverage expertise in modern learning methodologies (e.g., human-centered design, agile delivery) and technology to create innovative, forward-thinking learning solutions.
    • Ensure change management principles are considered in promoting learning initiatives and building a culture of continuous learning.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to embed learning practices, promote adoption, and create space for sustainment of learning programs.
    • Build trust and influence with leaders to identify and address key development opportunities aligned with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Measurement & Evaluation
    • Establish and report on metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of learning programs.
    • Analyze insights to refine and improve strategies, ensuring alignment with current and future business needs.


  • You have:

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Learning & Development, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in Learning & Development or Organizational Development roles, with proven leadership experience.
    • Expertise in adult learning principles, learning program design, delivery, and evaluation, including experience with modern methodologies and technical tools.
    • Strong ability to consult with leaders and stakeholders, translating business needs into impactful learning solutions.
    • Excellent project management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
    • Certification in instructional design, leadership development, or related areas (e.g., CPLP, SHRM-CP, or similar) would be considered an asset.
    • Proficiency in learning management systems and learning technologies, including eLearning platforms (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Canva) and survey tools.
    • Experience in the financial services industry or a regulated environment would be considered an asset.

    The salary range for this role is $91,000 to $136,400 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
