About This Role:

Veranex has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Principal Research Pathologist specializing in the field of medical devices. You will be part of a team working to improve lives globally through medical technology innovation. The Principal Research Pathologist has overall responsibility for the histopathologic assessment and reporting of tissues involved in academic, clinical/medical, and/or non-GLP and GLP preclinical research projects. In addition, the pathologist is responsible for guidance and/or oversight to the sponsors and laboratory staff on the histologic processes necessary to ensure the adequate assessment of sponsors' tissues. This position requires professional leadership, strategic, technical, and business skills to promote the efficiency, profitability and competitive position of the company.

What You Will Do:
  • Develop pathology data and reporting, evaluate slides, and generate pathology reports in support of research studies.
  • Author, review, and revise facility standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with appropriate Quality Assurance personnel as needed to maintain compliance with GLP standards.
  • Coordinate, and/or assist with, technical training of laboratory-relevant skills.
  • Consult with Study Directors, Principal Investigators, and Sponsors regarding questions or concerns for histology and pathology projects.
  • Contributes to business development activities as a subject matter expert (SME) and may generate strategy and proposal documentation.
  • Assist in the lab as necessary including special projects and necropsy procedures as required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to perform other related duties as required including performance of all technical roles within the organization.


Qualifications:

Required skills:
  • DVM, DCVP (or eligible) and/or at least 2-5 years in a histopathology setting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all personnel
  • Strong leadership skills with problem solving ability
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently without supervision using sound judgment
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and technical terminology related to the practice of histopathology
  • Technical grossing and necropsy skills necessary to perform technical laboratory functions
  • Medical device experience


Preferred:
  • Willingness to relocate to Atlanta, or travel to Atlanta facility as needed.
