Job Description

JMA Solutions, a leading government contractor for the Federal Aviation Administration, has a full-time opportunity for a Senior II Scientist/Engineer/Systems Analyst providing engineering support to the National Airspace System (NAS) in Oklahoma City, OK. This position is primarily responsible for providing in-service improvements and modifications to NAS systems, engineering design support, and restoration support in compliance with FAA regulations and industry standards. The role includes necessary engineering support and repairs to restore surveillance (e.g., radar systems) and communication (e.g., radio, satellite) facilities at CONUS and non-CONUS locations, with associated documentation.

Duties include but not limited too:
  • Lead the design, development, and integration of FAA NAS systems, ensuring all components meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, identify solutions, and manage the lifecycle of complex systems.
  • Perform system analyses, troubleshooting, and optimization to improve system performance and efficiency.
  • Develop and review system documentation, including technical specifications, test plans, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and industry standards throughout system development and operational phases.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and stakeholders.
  • Support the development of risk mitigation strategies and system safety analysis.
  • Provide support for multiple organizational tactical initiatives through the development and implementation of modifications and upgrades to assigned equipment and facilities.
  • Conduct feasibility studies of proposed modifications through prototype developments, testing, and preparation of documentation for release to stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver a Purchase Description for the acquisition of material, including drawings, specifications, and parts list, with final cost estimates attached.
  • Provide completed engineering design support, including preparation of engineering study reports that include proposed modification designs, remote monitoring and control, and interface control documents (ICDs).
  • Provide restoration support at NAS facilities, including engineering support and repairs necessary to restore surveillance and communication facilities at CONUS and non-CONUS locations.
  • Review, initiate, and evaluate technical materials for correctness, including Technical Instructional Books, engineering white papers, and other related engineering documentation.
  • Conduct laboratory and/or simulated design testing to determine the feasibility of the solution.
  • Prepare and provide an Engineering Study Report (ESR) that clearly defines the problem, the alternatives, and the proposed solution or course of action.
  • Fabricate a complete prototype modification kit, working from the FAA-approved ESR.
  • Provide cost estimates for solution implementation.
  • Review and evaluate COTS manuals for correctness.
  • Provide on-site field support as directed by the COR.
  • Provide trip reports outlining the purpose, details, and resolution.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Travel will be required.
  • Prior experience with FAA surveillance and communication systems is highly recommended.


EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree with 15 years of relevant experience. Excellent writing and communication skills required.

SALARY: $138,00 - $148,000 depending on experience and education level. JMA offers a full benefits package including vision, health, dental, life insurance, as well as a 401k match.
