Who we are:The Social Development, Planning and Partnerships division works collaboratively with our community partners and multiple divisions within the Human Services department to enhance effective service delivery, identify gaps in services and efficiencies, and plan, influence and create solutions that positively impact the residents of Peel. We achieve this through program priorities including Poverty Reduction, Community Investment and Community Safety & Well-being. We provide services such as research, analysis, data analytics, technology, recoveries, appeals, eligibility review, business and policy support, training and development, planning, evaluation, continuous improvement, document services, and project expertise.
What you will do in this role:
In this role, you will ensure the integrity of data and functionality of the business applications utilized by Children's Services, Housing, Peel Living, and Ontario Works. You will provide needs analysis and the development, maintenance and administration of application solutions.

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. What you will do in this role:
In this role, you will ensure the integrity of data and functionality of the business applications utilized by Children's Services, Housing, Peel Living, and Ontario Works. You will provide needs analysis and the development, maintenance and administration of application solutions.
Your major responsibilities include the following:
- Analyze user requirements and determine feasibility of meeting requirements within existing applications or if a new application/process is required.
- Through systems analysis, design, development, implementation and administration; enhance and/or create applications to meet the needs of the business units and respond to changes in business processes and legislated requirements.
- Prepare initial user documentation for new process/application development.
- Develop standardized and ad hoc reports based on user requirements.
- Schedule and complete regular planned/required daily, monthly and annual tasks (e.g. reports, eviction notices, and bank interface reports).
- Primary contact for all Human services applications for the purpose of troubleshooting systems/operations problems by users.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to the design, operation and use of all, but not limited to Human Services applications.
- Provide training requirements support to trainers.
- Provide subject matter advice to Human Services staff on use of all software applications.
- Implement data security and access controls.
- Work/Collaborate with outside service providers, Ministry and Region's IT division for development, installation, upgrades, maintenance and trouble shooting issues.
- Use various programming languages (including but not limited to, Lotus Script, VB, JAVA Script, PL/SQL) to provide design and development within various software packages.
- Monitor applicable activities to ensure applications are operable and scheduled activities and routines are executed correctly.
- Liaise with the Region's Information Technology and Corporate Finance divisions regarding electronic interfaces.
- Liaise with Financial/Banking Institutions regarding electronic interfaces.
- Liaise with other municipalities regarding systems extracts (e.g. Social Assistance Management System (SAMS)).
- Other related duties as required.
What the role requires:
- Minimum of a 3-year college diploma or university degree which equates to a combination of working knowledge of information technology plus further specialization in systems analysis or programming.
- Requires well developed technical/professional skills acquired through a minimum of at least three years of experience in a related field.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong communication skills to communicate technical and/or specialized information and to respond to requests for information requiring additional research and/or non-routine responses.
- Business and systems skills to evaluate, manipulate and use information from multiple sources. Application development and administration.
- Process management skills and experience.
- Project management skills and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of multiple computer applications/databases, including but not limited to: MS Office, MSAccess, Lotus Notes, Oracle.
- Knowledge of various programming languages including, but not limited to Visual Basic, Java, SQL, PL/SQL, Lotus Script.
- Knowledge of statistics or accounting would be an asset.
- Excellent time management and flexibility to adjust to regularly changing priorities.
