Basic Function
Ensure health unit complies with local, state, and federal standards which govern healthcare units in Detox/Withdrawal Management environments; to provide training and consultation services in the area of mental health or detox/withdrawal; to supervise the provision of nursing services; Directly and indirectly supervises up to 20 full-time employees including Nurse Supervisors, Registered Nurses, Withdrawal Management Assistants, and support staff;
To provide specialized treatment services to clients in an outpatient mental health clinic or the Detoxification/Withdrawal Management Program; to provide training and consultation services in the area of mental health or detox/withdrawal; to supervise the provision of nursing services ; and perform related duties as assigned.
Examples of Work Performed
Promote a diverse, culturally competent, and respectful workplace. Supervise a clinical working unit that provides direct nursing services to County residents. Ensure staff and program compliance with regulatory standards by keeping abreast of pertinent statutory and policy changes. Provide diagnostic assessment, complete with DSM IV diagnosis and recommendations, for beginning psychiatric medication regimen. Prescribe, monitor and adjust medications in collaboration with a physician or psychiatrist. Provide crisis services, education, and individual and group therapy for clients and their families; identify problems, assess level of functioning, plan intervention strategies, review placement options, provide treatment, and coordinate services with other health care providers. Plan and coordinate client care by collecting collateral information, documenting in medical records, referring clients to community resources for additional service and following up on client status. Provide directive and oversight to support nursing services to clients by auditing health assessments, facilitated training, consulting, and supporting with stabilization plans and treatment models. Participate in weekly Mental Health Clinic supervisor meetings and assist Human Services Manager with program development.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master's Degree in nursing.
Experience: Three years' experience as a Nurse Clinician/Practitioner, Nurse Supervisor or equivalent.
Certifications/Licensure: Licensed as a registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota and must have a Nurse Practitioner Certificate in the area of specialization from a recognized Nurse Practitioner program. Approved or eligible for approval by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges

Eligible List: The names of all applicants who properly completed an application and passed the examination/screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for an employment opportunity as Nurse Clinician Supervisor. This list will be certified to the appointing authority which may use this list to conduct interviews to fill a vacancy. Candidates will remain on the list for 60 days or until hired, whichever occurs first. The department may choose to interview any candidate on the eligible list.
