Purpose of Position:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Strategy and Innovation, the Strategy and Innovation Development Manager is responsible for driving the district's strategic vision for innovation and ensuring its effective implementation. This leadership role will be a visionary thinker, a strategic planner, and a passionate advocate for transforming educational practices to meet the evolving needs of students and the community. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture of innovation, empowering teams to translate bold ideas into impactful realities, and ensuring MMSD remains at the forefront of educational excellence. The Manager will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive innovation roadmap, manage an innovation pipeline from early-stage concepts to fully realized programs and schools and develop and execute a comprehensive innovation roadmap to cultivate a culture of experimentation. This role requires a deep understanding of educational trends, entrepreneurial thinking, and the ability to translate innovative ideas into tangible, impactful programs to transform educational practices and meet the evolving needs of our students. This position will have a high degree of integrity, sustain a culture of continuous improvement, and be committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive work environment while having a growth mindset to a multi-faceted operation while having a focus on creating a positive work culture.

Environmental Adaptability:
Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and may involve walking, sitting, stooping or reaching. Manual dexterity is necessary for completing general tasks while operating office equipment. This position may require being stationary for extended periods of time.
Working Conditions:
Work requires travel to different locations within the district and to off-site meetings. The position requires working evenings, nights, and some weekends. Certain positions within the District may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. School-based positions are required to be in-person unless otherwise directed by the building principal.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate will have all of the following:
- Master's degree in education, educational leadership, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational leadership, strategic planning, or innovation management.
- Deep understanding of the entrepreneurial and innovation landscape, with a proven track record of driving successful initiatives.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
A more than qualified candidate will also have the following:
- Doctorate degree in education, educational leadership, business administration, or a related field.
- Experience working in a large, diverse school district.
- Experience with design thinking and human-centered design methodologies.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
