Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Functions independently and as part of collaborative teams to develop and deploy software
    • Understands and applies principles, theories, concepts, techniques and standards of professional field
    • Supports development of project scope
    • Helps to outline technical requirements and underlying data systems
    • Proactively maintains project schedule when in project lead role
    • Interfaces regularly with customers and key stakeholders
    • Supports integration of hardware systems and other resources adjacent to software being developed
    • Routinely creates structured databases
    • Strives for fully-satisfied customers
  • Maintains a modern SW skill set and reusable code base
    • Regularly collaborates with software colleagues to share best practices and code
    • Regularly makes suggestions for the benefit of the group and department
  • Provides ongoing project and consulting support
    • Creates and presents user training documentation
    • Regularly provides software support including Q&A, small software code snippets, bug fixes, and usability enhancements
  • Prepares and presents reports to internal and external parties
  • Participate in meetings, expressing opinions, offering ideas, and effectively listening
  • Assume accountability to identify tasks required to achieve defined goals and improve service, efficiency, and quality of work
  • Continues to develop professional skills and knowledge

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, engineering, or related field required
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in automation software, data systems, and system development
    • Advanced degree in similar fields accepted in lieu of experience

Skills
  • Experience with modern programming languages such as Python, C#, .NET, LabView, Unity
  • Experience with SQL or similar databases a plus
  • Experience with programmable controller configuration and use a plus
  • Knowledge of wireless and wired architecture and communication protocols a plus
  • Strong analytical and mathematics skills a plus
  • Must have a mindset for finding, analyzing, and efficiently solving variety of software problems
  • Must be comfortable working in a regulated business industry following defined processes and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others
  • Assumes accountability to identify tasks required to achieve defined goals and improve service, efficiency and quality of work
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Working Conditions
  • Office environment within the manufacturing facility
  • Occasional hands-on work at a test bench, in a lab, or in manufacturing environments
  • Occasional travel may be required

Physical Requirements
  • Able to perform physical tasks in various positions: standing, crouching, kneeling, reaching
  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Perform occasional lab or bench-level test work as needed

Safety Requirements
  • All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
  • PPE may be required when entering manufacturing areas.

Quality and Environmental Responsibilities

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
