About the Team
The TikTok U.S. Data Security Communications team plays a vital role in shaping and executing communications strategies that support our mission and engage key stakeholders. This includes external and internal communications, such as media relations, message development, thought leadership, crisis and issue management, employee engagement, and content creation. The team is also responsible in helping to shape the culture at USDS. The team collaborates closely with Global TikTok Communications, Public Policy, Legal, Trust & Safety, and Security to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging.

We are looking for a strategic and detail-oriented communications professional who is eager to grow in communications. This role is ideal for someone who is looking to deepen their expertise in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and take on increasing levels of responsibility over time.

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.

Job Responsibilities
- Work with the USDS Communications Lead to support the execution of strategic communications plans and programs that align with TikTok U.S. Data Security priorities.
- Develop and refine messaging, organizational announcements, presentations, FAQs, media materials, and internal communications to support key initiatives clearly and effectively.
- Assist in managing internal communication channels, including drafting leadership messages, supporting all-hands meeting agenda, logistics, presentation materials, employee communications and maintaining knowledge hubs.
- Work closely with senior executives to develop and refine their communications, presentations, scripts, etc.
- Monitor media coverage and industry trends, helping track and analyze issues relevant to USDS.
- Work closely with internal teams, including Public Policy, Legal, and Trust & Safety, to align messaging and ensure consistency across stakeholders.
- Support media relations efforts, including preparing briefing materials and drafting responses for inquiries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support proactive and reactive communication strategies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with experience developing both internal and external messaging.
- Basic HTML experience to support internal newsletters and web-based content.
- Ability to distill complex topics, including security, privacy, and regulatory issues, into clear and compelling communications.
- Experience working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to align messaging and execute communications strategies.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Eager to take ownership of projects and grow within the role.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in technology, policy, regulatory, or security communications.
- Experience working in a matrixed, multinational company or high-growth organization.
