The Senior Draughtsman:PLM & CAD will work in a high-tech new product development environment, where safety and performance critical components/products for a predominantly international defence market is developed and manufactured.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Applying professional knowledge for developing of 3D CAD models and drawings using Solid Edge in accordance with BS 8888 & RDM Drawings Standards.
- Producing Interface, Layout, General Assembly, Detail, Toolingand Marking and Packaging Drawings.
- All drawings shall be managed in Teamcenter PLM in accordance with the RDM Development & Configuration procedures.
- As member of a team, assist with the design of and taking responsibility for the manufacturing drawings of components/products and process tooling
- Interpreting product/technical specifications for products/subsystems/equipment as design inputs
- Preparing conceptual designs, assists in trade-off studies on alternative designs as member of a team
- Staying up to date with manufacturing methods (mechanical) & engineering materials
- Reach identified development milestones as part of a team
- Prepare technical drawing data packs
- Provide marketing and production support when required
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- Minimum: Higher Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or equivalent (NQF5) and 7 years related experience
- Preferred: Nat. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or equivalent (NQF6), and at least 5 years related experience
- Advanced subject matter skills: 3-D design package (Solid Edge preferred), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software (Teamcenter preferred)
- Good working knowledge of GD&T, limits and fits, manufacturing tolerances
- Good working knowledge of engineering materials and component fabrication processes
- Experience built on principles and exposure to practice in a creative technical environment
- Good problem solving and relationship skills
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Good interpersonal, facilitation and conflict management skills
- Good communication, planning and organizing skills
- Fundamental computer literacy: MS Office packages (Excel, Word, Outlook), online collaboration tools e.g. Webex Meetings
