Purpose of Position:
Under the general supervision of the Deputy Superintendent, the Director of Family, Youth, and Community Engagement (FYCE) provides strategic leadership and vision to foster strong youth-family-school-community partnerships that drive student success. This role is rooted in the district's commitment to fairness and inclusive excellence, utilizing a targeted universalism framework to center the needs of historically marginalized and underserved families and students. The Director champions the dual capacity-building framework and the continuum of involvement, engagement, and collaboration strategies to develop culturally responsive approaches, disrupt systemic barriers, and amplify the voices of marginalized communities. This position will have a high degree of integrity, sustain a culture of continuous improvement, and be committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive work environment while having a growth mindset to a multi-faceted operation and a focus on creating a positive work culture.
The Director will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the District's family engagement strategy to engage families as essential partners in helping students achieve academic proficiency and college and career readiness. This leader will manage a small team, provide professional learning and support to school-based staff, and collaborate across departments to advance family engagement practices that promote fairness and inclusive excellence.
The Director will manage a team of individuals directly supporting clusters and schools. They will also integrate and coordinate cross-functional communication with teams and individuals with engagement responsibilities across the District.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position will directly supervise the FYCE Coordinators, Multicultural Services Coordinators, and Student Engagement Specialists.

Environmental Adaptability:
Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury. This position requires lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and may involve walking, sitting, stooping, or reaching. Manual dexterity is necessary for completing general tasks while operating office equipment. This position may require being stationary for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
Work requires travel to different locations within the district and to off-site meetings. Position requires working evenings, nights, and some weekends. Certain positions within the District may allow remote/work-from-home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the position's needs and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. School-based positions must be in-person unless otherwise directed by the building principal.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate will have all of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Services, Human Services, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in education, community organizing, or social services, with a strong preference for experience in urban school environments.
- Minimum of 3 years of administrative or leadership experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in race relations, equity, diversity, multicultural.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with parents and community stakeholders.
- Proven experience in teaching within an urban setting.
A more than-qualified candidate will also have the following:
- Master's degree in Education, Social Services, Human Services, or a related field.
- Experience managing a team or in communications and public relations.
- Experience providing organization-wide, district, or school-wide leadership.
