Siemens Digital Industries is seeking a dynamic and experienced Process Automation Business Developer to drive growth in the Chemical, Glass, and Energy (CGE) sector. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and interpersonal skills to identify, develop, and execute automation solutions that enhance industrial efficiency and innovation. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, sales teams, and technical experts to deliver value-driven automation strategies tailored to industry needs. This position reports directly to the US Head of Vertical Market CGE.

We are looking for a Process Automation Business Developer. This position is remote and can be based anywhere in the continental, United States.

You'll make an impact by:
  • Technical & Industry Expertise:
  • Provide strategic recommendations on process automation, control systems (DCS, SCADA, PLC, IIoT), and digital transformation technologies.
  • Leverage expertise in chemical process engineering, energy management, and Industry 4.0 to develop cutting-edge solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards in automation applications.
  • Business Development & Market Strategy:
  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities in the Chemical, Glass & Energy (CGE) industries, including Oil & Gas, Hydrogen, Sustainable Fuels, and Battery sectors.
  • Develop account strategies and execute solution-selling approaches to enhance customer engagement.
  • Conduct market analysis, competitor assessment, and ROI evaluations to drive sales effectiveness.
  • Lead contract negotiations and structure service agreements that maximize value for both Siemens and the customer.
  • Customer Engagement & Relationship Management:
  • Establish and maintain strong C-level relationships through trusted advisory and consultative selling.
  • Educate key stakeholders on emerging automation trends and digital innovations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, IT, and production, to ensure seamless solution delivery.
  • Project Management & Implementation:
  • Utilize Agile and Lean methodologies to manage automation projects efficiently.
  • Drive change management initiatives for digital transformation in chemical plants.
  • Mitigate risks by ensuring regulatory compliance and operational safety in automation implementations.
  • Thought Leadership & Industry Engagement:
  • Represent Siemens as a recognized thought leader in process automation by engaging in industry associations and working groups.
  • Leverage social media and digital branding to establish credibility and generate leads.
  • Deliver impactful presentations, proposals, and technical demonstrations to customers and industry stakeholders.

You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in consulting, business development, sales, or account management, ideally in the Chemical, Glass & Energy (CGE) sector.
  • Strong understanding of process automation, industrial digitalization, and sustainability-driven solutions.
  • Proven track record in complex solution sales and business development with major industrial accounts.
  • Experience in managing multi-channel sales models (direct sales, distributors, system integrators).
  • Strong financial and investment analysis skills for cost-benefit assessment of automation projects.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strategic approach to market penetration and revenue growth.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a matrixed, global team environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in digital transformation initiatives, AI, predictive maintenance, and smart factories.
  • Familiarity with Siemens Digital Industries product portfolio.
  • Established network within the chemical, energy, or industrial automation sectors.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and public-speaking skills.

  • The pay range for this position is $89,670 - $153,720. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
