Responsibilities
This position is responsible for contributing to optimal patient care through the promotion of appropriate, safe and cost-effective use of drugs. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, skills and professional judgment to confer with both patients and healthcare providers on drug therapy. The position is responsible for overseeing the drug distribution process to assure proper access to drugs, as well as accurate and timely drug delivery. The position contributes to ongoing improvement of the provision of pharmaceutical care through personal education, collaborative problem solving, and active participation in the Pharmacy Department and Medical Center quality assurance programs.
Pharmacists may engage in the Practice of Pharmacy and provide the supervision* of Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Interns, and Pharmacy Practice Residents in any Virginia Mason location for which they have received training including but not limited to Inpatient, Oncology Infusion, OR, and Investigational Drug Services. *Supervision, for the purposes of this job description, is defined as visual and/or physical proximity that insures adequate safety and controls.

Qualifications
This position requires a Pharm D or B.S. in Pharmacy with relevant practice experience; one year related work experience preferred; a working knowledge of all aspects of pharmaceutical care; the ability to prepare a patient work-up and retrieve relevant patient and lab data; excellent pharmacokinetic skills; the ability to operate a computer; excellent communication skills; extensive knowledge of drug therapy, monitoring, dosing, and disease treatment; the ability to supervise others including Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Interns, and Pharmacy Practice Residents; the ability to attend to detail; a working knowledge of Federal and State pharmacy laws; knowledge of hazardous drugs; knowledge of sterile compounding; the ability to review and assess medical literature; excellent interpersonal skills; and strong organizational skills.
Licensure for this position include a Washington State Pharmacist license and 15 hours of DOH/PQAC approved continuing education credits per year.
BCPS certification is preferred. Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program is preferred.
