The City of Shakopee is now hiring for Fire Inspector
The Fire Inspector, under the direction of the Fire Marshal, is responsible for fire prevention, inspection, investigation, education, and emergency response. Role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local fire and life safety codes by evaluating fire suppression and detection systems, building services, and life safety hazards through plan reviews and inspections of new and existing multi-family residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Additionally, they conduct pre-fire and emergency planning, evaluate water supply for fire protection, and assist in community fire safety outreach, education, and risk reduction. Key aspect of this role involves collaboratively engaging with property owners, contractors, and the public to promote fire safety and compliance. Fire Inspector also investigates the origin and cause of fires, working closely with public and private entities. They may respond to fires or medical incidents to assist command or fill other operational roles. Fire Inspector may fill role of Fire Marshal when necessary.
