What You Will Do

We are looking for a highly motivated, professional, and customer-focused individual with expert-level skills to provide strategic, operational, and administrative support to the Computer, Computational, and Statistical Sciences Division (CCS). Reporting to and working closely with the Staff Operations Manager, as well as the CCS management and administrative teams, this role supports a diverse group of scientists, postdoctoral associates, students, and visitors.

In this role, you will provide essential operational, programmatic, and administrative support to the division, collaborating with various organizations, groups, and staff both within and outside CCS. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities effectively, and handle personnel and sensitive matters with tact and discretion is essential.

  • Work in a team environment that requires close cooperation, adaptability and initiative in completing tasks, and willingness to provide support whenever necessary.
  • Execute complex administrative and operational functions and activities with minimal supervision.
  • Support Division Office responses to strategic and operational questions by conducting preliminary research, gathering relevant data, and compiling/summarizing supporting materials to streamline the work of leadership.
  • Provide expert knowledge with calendar management to assist Division management with conflicts, scheduling, and knowledge of meeting information to provide ahead of time
  • Track and report progress toward business, operational, and/or programmatic goals and objectives.
  • Maintain a professional office atmosphere and demonstrate initiative, versatility, accuracy, and professional discretion when dealing with sensitive matters including staff privacy, confidentiality, and matters of National Security.
  • Interact effectively and efficiently with all levels of management, personnel, and staff in a professional and customer friendly manner.


What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Proven competence in providing high-level administrative and operational support utilizing tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with sensitive and in-confidence information.
  • Experience in managing complex calendars, and with organizing and managing high-level visits, meetings, and events for both internal and external visitors.
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, verbal and written), including ability to communicate critical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Excellent customer service skills and interaction with all levels of internal and external personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, develop solutions, and assume responsibility for projects from inception to completion, including reporting on project results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and calmly under pressure of multiple deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities.


Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating high-profile meetings and events.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, executing simple and complex procurements, including subcontracts
  • Experience working with sensitive and/or classified information
  • Experience with LANL's visitor procedures
  • Active Q clearance

Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
