Description:

STV is seeking a Demolitions Inspector - Aviation for the Construction Management Group.

The Demolitions Inspector - Aviation is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safe and compliant execution of demolition activities within airport environments. The inspector ensures that all structural demolitions, hazardous material handling, and debris removal meet aviation safety standards, environmental regulations, and project specifications. This role involves close coordination with contractors, airport authorities, and regulatory bodies to mitigate risks associated with demolition work in active airport settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Demolition Oversight & Quality Control:
  • Inspect and monitor demolition activities to ensure compliance with FAA, ICAO, OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and local aviation regulations.
  • Verify demolition plans, methods, and equipment used for terminal buildings, runways, hangars, control towers, and other airport infrastructure.
  • Ensure controlled demolition techniques are followed to prevent damage to nearby structures and airport operations.
  • Assess and oversee the safe removal and disposal of hazardous materials (asbestos, lead, fuels, chemicals, etc.) in compliance with environmental laws.
  • Review site-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements for demolition activities.
  • Conduct post-demolition inspections to ensure complete removal of structures and proper site restoration.


Project Coordination & Reporting:
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, environmental specialists, and airport authorities to ensure compliance and minimize disruption to airport operations.
  • Maintain daily reports, photographic records, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) related to demolition progress and safety compliance.
  • Participate in site meetings and provide updates on demolition activities, issues, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in resolving technical challenges and ensuring demolition processes align with project timelines and regulatory approvals.


Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure demolition work adheres to airport security protocols and operational guidelines.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to mitigate risks such as structural collapse, dust control, debris impact, and hazardous material exposure.
  • Enforce compliance with permitting requirements for explosives or mechanical demolition methods.
  • Support emergency response planning in case of unexpected incidents during demolition.


Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in demolition inspection, construction safety, or airport infrastructure projects.
  • Certifications:
    • OSHA 30, HAZMAT, NFPA 241 (Standard for Safeguarding Construction, Alteration, and Demolition Operations) preferred.
    • Certification in asbestos abatement, lead removal, or environmental compliance is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of controlled demolition techniques, hazardous material handling, and site remediation.
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, project management software, and environmental monitoring tools.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving, risk assessment, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work in high-security and high-risk environments with strict protocols.


Compensation Range:
$69,161.00 - $92,215.00
