VIZIO is seeking a Senior Privacy Counsel with an emphasis in privacy engineering and experience in counseling businesses on mitigating privacy risks, privacy by design principles, and privacy-enhancing technologies. This Senior Privacy Counsel will report to VIZIO's Deputy General Counsel, collaborate with other attorneys in VIZIO's Legal department, and help continue to support and improve the Company's privacy program as it matures and develops new services and offerings for platform partners and users. For California-based employment: The minimum salary for this position is $218,000/year. The maximum salary for this position $256,000/year. In addition to base salary, the compensation package also includes eligibility for an annual bonus, as well as equity and a range of medical, dental, vision and other benefits.
For Colorado-based employment: The target salary range is $200,000 - $235,000. In addition to base salary, the compensation package also includes eligibility for an annual bonus, as well as equity and a range of medical, dental, vision and other benefits.

What You Will Do
- Coordinate with business stakeholders, product design, and engineering functions to ensure privacy regulations and privacy by design principles are effectively implemented in products and services.
- Provide counseling and training on technical standards and practices for issues such as privacy-enhancing technologies, deidentification, encryption, data clean rooms, and user opt-outs.
- Oversee data subject access request process and iterate on improvements.
- Coordinate with IT and Engineering on information security and data breach incident response. Assist in conducting and managing internal assessments of the Company's privacy controls and external audits of business partners.
- Evaluate issues from legal and business perspectives with a practical, business-oriented approach to problem solving, as well as handle complex business and legal issues in a fast-paced, agile, and evolving technology-driven business environment.
- Support strategic initiatives in new technologies or services.
- Maintain and continuously improve working knowledge of applicable state, federal, and global privacy laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Like all attorneys at all levels at VIZIO, pitch in wherever necessary to assist the Legal team in meeting the Company's goals.
About You
- Deep interest in data privacy and intersection of law and information technology.
- BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, privacy engineering or related field of study.
- A JD from a U.S. accredited law school.
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience working with privacy law and technology, including working in in-house legal departments, government agencies, consulting firms, or law firms.
- IAPP certification in one or more of the following: CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT.
- Experience with privacy enhancing technologies and adtech.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with emphasis on distilling complex issues and solutions for business stakeholders.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.
- Ability to take ownership over developing solutions for challenging matters.
- Service-oriented attitude to support legal and business stakeholders.
- Ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- License to practice law or ability to register as in-house counsel in applicable jurisdiction.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with programming languages including Javascript, Python, SQL, PHP and/or Java.
