Primary Purpose
Oversee the Information Technology (IT) department and lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive IT strategy that supports the educational and administrative objectives of the college.
Position Duties
Responsible for the operation and support of the Information Technology (IT) department and leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive IT strategy that supports the educational and administrative objectives of the college. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's practices, policies and applicable laws. The CIO will ensure that the various IT infrastructures are reliable, secure, and efficient and will foster innovation to enhance the educational environment and operational effectiveness of the college. Responsibilities also include overseeing the management of the staff, budget, business continuity, cybersecurity, technology innovation, and compliance requirements.
Position Requirements
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. A master's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a closely related field is preferred. A minimum of three years of prior experience in various IT disciplines is required. At least two years of progressive supervisory experience, along with strong verbal and written communication skills and technical knowledge to help solve complex problems, is also required. Experience in an NC Community College IT environment, particularly with Ellucian, is preferred.
If selected for employment, the applicant must submit to a criminal background check and drug screening.
