Job Description
Job Title: Scientist
Job Specialty: Lab

Shift: 10 PM - 7 AM, 8-hour shift
Guaranteed Hours:
Experience: No experience required for graduates of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by NAACLS or other organizations approved by HHS. Alternatively, one year of approved clinical laboratory experience within the last five years, which must include a clinical rotation through sections like Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids.
License: State Licensure Required
Certifications: MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT Certification from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS. If certification has an expiration date, it must be maintained and kept current.
Must-Have:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489.
- Education that has been evaluated by an acceptable credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Job Description:
- Perform all routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, calculation, and reporting of results.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment, and make minor repairs or notify Bio-med as needed.
- Cross-train to other laboratory sections as required.
- Ensure the laboratory's quality control program is properly followed.
- Calculate, enter, and verify results of laboratory procedures.
- Utilize the Laboratory Information System effectively.
- Provide notification and documentation of critical laboratory values obtained.
- Process patient specimens, including collection, handling, and distribution while being mindful of minimal pediatric specimen volumes when necessary.
- Participate in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new or updated testing procedures and protocols.
- Demonstrate competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities meeting the population-specific and developmental needs of patients.
- Adapt assigned patient assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate the unique needs of each patient served.
- Demonstrate adherence to company CORE values.
- Complete all required compliance and regulatory tasks, and follow all applicable policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
