Job Title: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
Job Specialty: Cardiac Catheterization Lab
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 10-hour day shift, Variable-TBD
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours
Experience: At least one year of Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience preferred
License: Surgical Assistant License (required for Colorado employed staff only)
Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) Required
- ACLS (AHA) Required
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through CCI; OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES); OR RRT with post-primary certification of Cardiac Interventional Radiography through ARRT
Must-Have:
- Experience in special procedures preferred
- Proficiency in radiography, cardiac, ACLS, electrophysiology
Job Description:
- Assist physicians in performing a variety of specialized cardiovascular procedures, including diagnostic and interventional catheterization, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, intra-aortic balloon pump operation, and electrophysiology studies.
- Evaluate and document patient status, responding appropriately to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise and competence, exceeding job responsibilities per department standards.
- Exhibit commitment to continued learning and knowledge sharing with patients and colleagues.
- Participate in performance improvement activities to enhance care outcomes, driven by a desire to learn more.
- Effectively and safely use equipment, time, personnel, and supplies to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Adapt to changing workload, patient needs, technologies, policies, and regulations through priority setting and flexibility.
- Maintain a high skill level by participating in continuous quality improvement, in-services, ongoing education, and attending 80% of staff meetings.
- Provide on-call coverage outside of scheduled hours as per department and facility policy.
- Recognize and act promptly on unusual results or patient responses, informing the primary healthcare team to ensure patient safety.
- Manage different personality types, ages, and levels of consciousness of patients, adjusting approach based on understanding of test procedures.
- Troubleshoot and correct recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems interfering with recordings.
- Independently prioritize clinical and administrative work, identifying process improvements.
- Process patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards.
- Be prepared to float to any location within sixty miles of the original assignment or identified float zone, which may include duties outside the original job requirements.
