Reporting to the Senior Vice President Finance, the incumbent will combine their financial modelling expertise, business knowledge and critical thinking to ensure the overall success of the organization's goals and objectives.

In addition, they will support the department in all aspects of financial planning and analysis, on-going and strategic analysis and reporting as well as being a key member of a system implementation team.

Key Activities

Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting:
  • Update and maintain consolidated forecasting models to monitor key financial metrics.
  • Manage quarterly financial forecasting activities and reporting to our Board.
  • Manage monthly internal and Board reporting including variance analysis to budget and/or forecast.
  • Support acquisition and disposition analysis including proforma scenario building, underwriting/ proformas, and providing insights and recommendations as necessary.
  • Preparation of quarterly forecast materials presented to the Board and senior management.
  • Develop and maintain financial modelling, performance monitoring tools and NAV models, as needed.
  • Partnering with other teams to support cash flow forecasting, financial covenant reporting and credit rating reviews.
  • Support and participate in the annual budget and re-forecast processes including consolidating divisional and functional annual budgets, preparation of monthly and quarterly forecasts, developing key performance indicators and analyzing for completeness and reasonability, explaining material variances.
  • Preparation of adhoc senior management and / or Board of Directors materials.
  • As it relates to our financial planning and analysis systems participate as subject matter expert on design, development, testing and implementation teams.
  • Working with the Strategic Planning & Decision Support team, contribute to the development and improvement and/or automation of:
    • monthly and/or quarterly forecast process and the annual budget process
    • consolidated financial reporting
    • monitoring of our key performance indicators and financial metrics
  • Mentor, coach team members
  • Other duties as required.


Qualifications

Experience & Education:
  • Post-secondary education with preference to CA, CFA, CMA, CGA, designations.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial reporting, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting or analysis capacity.
  • Expert financial modeling.
  • Experience in real estate sector (senior housing an asset) and/or investment banking.
  • Experience with OneStream and/or Hyperion Essbase/Planning/Smartview preferred.
  • Experience building data visualizations in PowerBI or other data visualization tools an asset.

  • Aptitude toward systems and process improvements and re-engineering.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and the ability to present ideas in a format tailored to the audience.
  • Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks; seeks help when needed.
  • Ability to effectively transfer knowledge.
  • Strong proficiency in excel and PowerBI is required.
  • Ability to manage and validate large amounts of data and translate this data into relevant business information.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Easily adapts to changes, delays, or unexpected events in the work environment.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.
