Hybrid: This role will be a mix of in-office work at our corporate headquarters in Del Mar, CA and remote work. This position is expected to be in office 3 days per week but may vary depending on business demands.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
A Manager of Software Test Engineering at Tandem leads Software Test Supervisors and Testers in verifying software products meet requirements and quality standards. These individuals collaborate with project teams to support timely product launches and communicate test progress and identifies risks to cross-functional teams. This individual also implements test process improvements and maintains test tools and environments. Responsible for managing a team of test professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and career development and also for recruiting, hiring, training, conducting performance reviews, and fostering employee engagement. Resolves team conflicts and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $159,100.00-$202,800.00 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.
Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision available your first day, as well as health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts. You'll also receive 11 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (with accrual starting on day 1) and you will have access to a 401k plan with company match as well as an Employee Stock Purchase plan. - Manage testing across device hardware, software, mobile applications, and cloud-based products
- Create test plans and strategies to balance product quality and delivery timelines
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand project scope, define test requirements, and review test approaches
- Manage test automation efforts and oversee script development
- Coordinate defect tracking and resolution with development teams
- Report test status and issues to project stakeholders
- Ensure proper documentation of test activities in management systems
- Implement process improvements to increase testing efficiency
- Provide guidance and direction to test team members
- Conduct performance reviews, offer feedback, and set goals for direct reports
- Participate in hiring and interview processes for the test team
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
- 5+ years of experience in testing and product commercialization, with a focus on device hardware, software, mobile applications, and cloud environments.
- 2+ years of people management experience leading test teams. Experience leading and coordinating activities between cross-functional teams, strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and articulate priorities, risks, and timelines to stakeholders.
- Deep experience in product commercialization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in test automation, test management tools, and defect tracking systems.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Able to review and critique product requirements and software design for testability.
- Adept at finding test process improvement opportunities and delivering execution.
- Ability to effectively mentor others in software test methodologies and test automation.
- Talent acquisition and interviewing skills.
- Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) preferred.
- Skilled at effectively communicating department or area issues and results within and across functional areas and conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or timelines. Able to gain cooperation of others.
- Skilled at effectively leading a cooperative team effort and organizing resources to achieve team goals. Able to make and prioritize process and resource decisions based on overall team needs.
