VP, US Finance

A Brief Overview

The VP, US Finance will apply accounting expertise and broad business knowledge to lead the finance function for the US Traditional or Financial Solutions line of business. In this role, the VP, US Finance provides leadership and oversight of accounting processes, financial and management reporting, and planning and budgeting for the line of business. As the Finance business partner, the VP, US Finance provides strategic financial direction to senior leadership within the line of business and fosters a spirit of cooperation and coordination across all functional areas.

This position enjoys a local Chesterfield MO Hybrid work schedule.

What you will do
  • Leads and manages all accounting and financial reporting of the business lines (including Services business). Ensures all accounting controls are in place and ensures the financial integrity in all aspects of reporting and adherence to company accounting policies and practices
  • Provides leadership and oversight of the reviews and analysis of financial results and plan. Identifies key drivers of results and provides leadership and consultation to the various business and office leaders to ensure understanding of results
  • Provides accounting guidance and direction on accounting and reporting requirements for new transactions. Works with valuation, finance, auditors, operations, and senior management to ensure everyone understands the accounting and how it impacts RGA's financial statements, the structure of the transaction, capital requirements, etc
  • Collaborates with Finance, Valuation and leadership teams in developing operating plans and projections. Ensures they are reasonable based on key drivers, trends and accounting implications
  • Oversees and reviews Sarbanes Oxley scope, compliance, risks and controls. Collaborates with external and internal auditors
    Initiates and leads projects that improve the efficiencies of processes, improvement of management reporting and the strengthening of controls over US Traditional financial reporting
  • Leads, manages and directs the activities of department staff and management in all aspects of supervisory duties, including, but not limited to hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience
  • 12+ Years accounting/finance experience
  • 10+ Years management experience
  • Expert Proficiency in:
    - Knowledge of insurance accounting, financial reporting, and capital frameworks
    - Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions
    - Verbal and written communication, demonstrating persuasion skills, the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all associates and management at all levels and by external contacts
    - People management skills, demonstrating an ability to lead, mentor and develop associates
    - Change management skills, ensuring understanding, participation and ownership
    - Timely and effective decision making and produce results through strategic planning and implementation and evaluation of programs and policies
    - Implementing organizational, divisional and/or departmental vision and goals that result in achievement and success through exceptional leadership skills, collaboration, creative thinking, maintaining focus, and persistence, even under adversity, while maintaining the confidence of management and associates
  • Advanced Proficiency in
    - Liaison and collaboration across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
    - Investigation, analytical and complex problem solving
    - managing multiple projects and sub-teams simultaneously, including delegation in key areas of responsibility
  • Intermediate Proficiency in Word, Excel, and SQL/Query
  • Experience with data analytics, visualization, and business intelligence tools

Compensation Range:
$146,950.00 - $218,950.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
