Position Summary

Lead Facilities and Infrastructure activities through Foreman, Engineers, contractors and support teams within the Utah Business Unit. Assures compliance with company policies and government regulations while achieving minimum cost objectives. Works closely with operations manager to develop technical succession plan and long-term regional growth requirements. Analyzes solutions to field technical problems, selects equipment to be utilized and supervises activities within field during critical periods.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
  • Provides visible safety leadership and works closely with EHS team. Leads regular safety meetings with contractors.
  • Supervises construction of the tank batteries and associated pipelines. This includes ordering materials and managing schedules, as well as documenting and reporting weekly spend.
  • Supervises construction and installation of well site equipment, flowlines, power lines, etc.
  • Supervises repairs on existing facilities including leak repairs, upgrades, etc. Lead input on any compressor moves or changes.
  • Responsible for office shop and yard and maintaining internal inventory.
  • Screens and selects properly trained and qualified contractors to work on SM properties.
  • Reviews well facility surface equipment for sizing and best fit applications
  • Works closely with facility engineers and procurement group to source standard equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner from approved vendors
  • Reviews and approves contractor bids for completeness and accuracy.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings, providing updates and input on construction activities.
  • Makes decisions along with engineering personnel regarding status of projects and field related problems. Works closely with Facilities Engineers to develop project work scopes for retrofit and new build activities. Actively participates in safe design reviews - Hazard reviews, MOCs, and PSRs.
  • Handles invoice management
  • Remains current in the application of the latest proven technologies and methods
  • Regular field trips are required and can work extended hours when required.
  • Conducts business with the highest ethical standards.


In addition to the technical roles and responsibilities of a superintendent of the specific discipline, the superintendent is also responsible for the following:
  • Provides project management leadership in the development of existing assets, especially in achieving discipline specific annual budget targets and the acceleration of existing and future field development projects.
  • Participates and leads multi-disciplinary team meetings, providing production operations discipline specific input
  • Develops strategic relationships with and effectively manages equipment contractors and suppliers
  • Leads and directs contractor or project partners as required
  • Confirms well site contractors are properly approved with SCM Group
  • Supervise the day to day operations to provide technical advice and quality assurance to all aspects of the operation, logistics, equipment, and oversee the application of standards and policies
  • Regularly reviews procedures for quality, check cost estimates; and ensure that risks are identified and appropriate mitigation measures are in place
  • Investigates operation problems and provide advice, effective solutions and contingency plans
  • Reviews performance and develop plans to enhance cost effectiveness and performance
  • Supervises and ensures technical work is of the highest quality for any direct reports
  • Participates in the hiring of staff, performance reviews and personnel development efforts for any direct reports
  • Remains current in the application of the latest proven technologies and methods used for their specific operations discipline in the production of oil and gas assets


Computer/Software Applications

Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel Experience with industry/company software including, but not limited to, AVM, Wellview, SCADA, OpenInvoice, Success Factors, and AFE Navigator.

Role-Specific Required Technical Knowledge & Skills
  • Detailed knowledge of company policies and procedures, industry practices, construction standards, welding procedures, and OSHA rules and regulations. Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.8 a plus.
  • Strong understanding of facilities and equipment in oil and gas environment - pipelines, tank batteries, compression, wellhead connects, vessels, pumps, powerlines, and other electrical infrastructure, etc. Understanding of facility documentation (i.e., PFDs, P&IDs, C&Es, Electrical one-lines) is a plus. Ability to create isometric piping drawings is a plus.
  • Good written and verbal skills required. Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Knowledge of AutoCAD a plus.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.


Required Education: High School Degree or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred. A valid driver's license is required.

Required Experience: Minimum of 10 years of oil and gas experience. Supervisory experience in construction, welding, and oil and gas related projects required.
