Job Title: Vice President of Supply Chain Operations

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Position Summary

The Vice President of Supply Chain Operations (SVP) will have oversight of the entire operation including food acquisition, volunteers, warehouse, drivers, building, facilities, and all partner agencies. They will have primary responsibility for the strategic planning, tactical operations, volunteer support, customer service, financial budgets, inventory, throughput and all metrics associated with the entire supply chain operations. The SVP will work interdepartmentally with Finance, IT operations, Business Data, Advancement, Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, Nutrition, Health, and Equity teams to ensure a quality work environment to support the mission to end hunger here. This is a highly collaborative role working with all aspects of the organization.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage all facets of procurement including all Material Cost Types (MCT) to acquire and distribute in excess of 100 million pounds of food including procurement, donated and food rescue components of fresh produce, protein, dairy and dry goods. This will encompass all facets of the budgeting process, vendor management, inventory and distribution metrics, training, and reporting both internally and to Feeding America.
  • Develop a strong rapport with other Massachusetts Food Banks in order to manage and execute the local food contracts.
  • Set performance expectations to meet all Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Manage all facets of the volunteer department including project planning and implementation to meet inventory and distribution needs at GBFB's warehouse; Analyze project efficiencies and make recommendations to streamline volunteer tasks. Update project training materials and request tools as needed.
  • Oversight of all facets of the warehouse operations including the inventory, safety, American Institute of Baking (AIB) standards, safety, security, maintenance, scheduling, IT tasks and operational efficiency standards, Standard Operating Processes (SOP) and basic foundations of receiving, selecting, and shipping in the entire facility. Oversight of all financial budgets, audits and al external partners.
  • Manage the fleet and drivers including oversight of all strategic initiatives, budgets, safety components, and all contracts including fuel, equipment and oversight of all DOT standards and regulations.
  • Oversight of the 117K square foot LEED Certified Building including the grounds, operations, maintenance, cleaning, AIB standards, USDA, City and State audits, BERDO agreements and all facets of the building. Oversee the budgets, vendors, contracts, safety, including capital expenditures, expansions, and all attributes to maintain and protect the facility and team GBFB.
  • Oversight and manage the 600+ member agencies including the logistics and supply chain aspects of all shared delivery sites, cross docks, and partner agency Memorandum of Understandings (MOU).
  • Maintain communications within all areas of the business to provide customer support relative to scheduling, preparation, and dissemination of relevant information and updates in a timely fashion
  • Directly manage 4 direct reports, Warehouse/Facilities, Volunteer, Food Acquisition, Agency Relations associates, providing mentorship, training, and development opportunities. Along with direct reports, have oversight to cover for the Chief Operating Officer and manage 75% of the team.
  • Publicly represent GBFB through internal and external engagement opportunities, sharing the critical aspects of the mission.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Proven experience in logistics network design and optimization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Must be comfortable representing GBFB in a positive professional manner in various arenas.
  • Attention to detail and ability to quickly adapt to evolving needs within the entire production process is essential.
  • Ability to be flexible while balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and ability to meet all deadlines.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills including coaching, mentoring, collaboration, conflict management, and team building.
  • Excellent work ethic, achievement oriented, and sense of humor.


Mandatory Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree is required with preference on an advanced degree
  • Strong Business and Financial Acumen.
  • 20+ years demonstrated work experience in customer service and solid performance in a lead role in supply chain and logistics required.
  • Must be available to participate in external events as needed; some flexible hours may be required.
  • Available to work occasional evenings and weekends, ability to travel to participate in Feeding America meetings.
  • Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the effective usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.
  • Genuine appreciation of GBFB's mission and the ability to communicate it.


Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in an office environment.
  • Ability to sit for up to 3 hours at a time.
  • Ability to stand for up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift, up to 25 lbs.


Work Environment
  • The job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional office or warehouse setting.
  • The job is occasionally performed indoors in the Warehouse with exposure to outside weather temperatures as well as potentially working in the refrigerated or freezer areas.

  • On site and offsite at member agencies and/or remote up to 2 days a week.
