Job Overview

The USCG IPT is seeking an Engineer IV /DOD Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support the US Coast Guard IT Services team and provide day-to-day IT and cyber program support to the Coast Guard. The ISSO will serve as a technical leader undertaking complex initiatives requiring specialized technical knowledge of the DOD RMF process.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Working with System owners with their RMF packages to ensure that all required IA controls are applied correctly and when not work with them to remediate the controls correctly as well as reviewing and advising on RMF packages.
  • Coordinate security program and system elements with the agency IT Program Managers by evaluating system environments for security requirements and controls including IT Security Architecture, hardware, software, telecommunications, security trends, and associated threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Support the creation and submission of RMF packages.
  • Tracking of IATO and ATO packages.
  • Develop IA POAMs.
  • Develop strategies for Implementing and maintaining IA posture.
  • Develop problem solving solutions for system dilemma's related to IA.
  • Ability to develop and document engineering processes and policies for obtaining and maintaining IA system compliance within government systems both ashore and afloat.
  • Oversee/conduct IA testing, remediation and mitigations.
  • Document and log cybersecurity risks and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure certification compliance of product procurements.
  • Review / approve security plans from System Administrators.
  • Distribute new IA requirements as they become available.
  • Identify, analyze, prioritize, resolve, and monitor cyber security risks.
  • Assess IA workload and personnel requirements.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or Mathematics is preferred; four (4) years' experience may be substituted for degree.
  • IT Certifications preferred CISSO, CISM, CISSP, CISA, GSE.
  • Recent experience with Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, or other government agency in IT to include Information Assurance support.
    • Ten (10) years' experience in Information Assurance/Cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated experience with DoD Info Assurance Certfication and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) and Risk Management Framework(RMF) processes.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Ability to successfully pass any employment background checks and/or drug testing.
